Bills Are Banged Up At Linebacker
The Buffalo Bills employ a total of 13 outside and inside linebackers, and with 2010 training camp barely a weekend old, five of those players have already missed practice time.
WGR 550's Joe Buscaglia is at Monday morning's practice (closed to the public), and reports that Paul Posluszny, Kawika Mitchell, Keith Ellison, Chris Kelsay and Danny Batten are all spectators.
Kelsay and Batten are dealing with shoulder injuries; Batten's arm was in a sling this morning, according to Chris Brown. Mitchell sat out a practice over the weekend as he was rested. Posluszny is dealing with a recent groin injury, while Ellison is still recuperating from a quadriceps injury that ended his 2009 season. Posluszny, however, did some light individual work Monday morning, according to Buscaglia; none of these injuries are considered much more than minor, as well.
Of the eight linebackers practicing, Reggie Torbor and Chris Ellis continue to get first-team reps on the outside, with Aaron Maybin and Antonio Coleman bringing up the rear. Andra Davis is joined in the middle by Ryan Manalac, Arthur Moats and Donovan Woods.

Anybody in here, hello??
In the BB.com video, Battan looked to be in a pretty good deal of pain. Hopefully the shoulder isn’t that serious….

to reiterate what brian said:
nothing to get too excited over.
all minor injuries. its freakin early in training camp. and the only one of those expected to be a major contributor is POZ.
batten is intriguing but lets not forget he’s a late round rookie and the highest hopes we have for him should be seeing him put together some type of contribution on special teams and maybe see meaningful playing time later into the season… not start in september.
Nobody would expect Battan to start
But the missed reps, practice time and preseason action would be a concern for his development. If we want him to contribute later, he needs reps in practice now…

It's still early, I'm not too worried.
If we still look this banged up at the start of the season then I’ll worry, but they still have about a month and a half to recouperate.
Dear God,
If we give you the Jonas Brothers, can you please give us back Jimi Hendrix?

can’t say i am happy about injuries already. i will say that it is nice to know that Poz is out for right now, and with Mitchell limited, we get a look at some of the younger guys in a better circumstance for them: playing with the first unit which features at least some guys who know a 3-4.
In a way, it is almost a good thing for the young guys to be getting reps over the “incumbent” starters, in Kelsay (why?: why is right), Mitchell (where: as in where will he fit), Poz (when: as in, what was the sense in waiting til now for surgery, so when will he be back) and Torbor (how: as in how is he starting), or Maybin (what: as in what is he doing NOT on the FIELD) are not necessarily eating up all the reps. The only one left is WHO, and that goes for Andre Davis, in whom we are putting most of our faith in running our 3-4 system on game day. Andre Davis( who: as in “who believes he is the guy”, and/or “who is this guy?”, or even “Who believes he will ever be anything but mediocre in the NFL?”)
Seems to me we have a lot of questions at linebacker already. ; )
maybe some of these questions could be answered by Moats or Coleman, or Batten, should he return from injury and still have the opportunity.

nice to know that Poz is out right now, due to a repair surgery
is what i should have said. Silver lining is having a look at the young guys. In no way is it a positive to not have him out there on the field learning the new D.

I think you're sleeping on A. Davis...
You will know why he is starting…he has been around a while and people who are nto familiar with him will be soon. He’s solid.

i am not opposed to Davis
as long as he is the stop gap, and helping bring the other guys along. If this is his chance to be a superstar, then man, i hope he does. If not, may as well be looking for a MLB or two, to go with the rest of our bazillion needs over the next couple of years.
