This guy is something special. He is capable of things beyond the ability of regular players.
I'm a Clemson fan, so I have watched him for four years. He is remarkable. I am sorry to see him go!
Last year there was only one player in college football who scored a TD in every game of the season.
It wasn't Mark Ingram, or Tebow, or any of those guys that got invited to the Heisman ceremony.
It was Spiller.
Last year there was only one player in college football who scored a TD in five ways (rushing, receiving, passing, kick return, punt return.)
Again, only Spiller.
I hoped our coach would put him in to kick FG and extra points and score in seven ways. That probably would have been a bad idea though, since he played the whole season with turf toe.
Spiller and Reggie Bush are the only college players with more than 3,000 yards rushing, 1,000 yards receiving, 1,500 yards on kickoff return and 500 yards on punt returns in their careers. He finished 2nd in NCAA history in all-purpose yards. He returned a record 8 kicks for TDs in his career.
Did I mention he spent the 1st 3 years of his career sharing carries with another back, and playing under an offensive coordinator who had no clue how to utilize his ability? So we only saw his best his senior year, when he was the man.
Some people complain that he does not "put his head down and take what he can get." But that is not who he is. He is extremely fast, and has tremendous acceleration and agility. He does not gain his yards by smashing into defenders and knocking them over. He gains them by evading them, making them miss, and breaking tackles. Then he just outruns them.
Not all of his big runs are to the outside. He broke some big ones up the middle as well. Just give him a hole, and he can make something happen. Sometimes something big! He is a threat to score a TD at any time, from any location on the field.
Youtube is full of his highlights. There are many. Check them out if you have not seen what he can do.
I think you have a special player and a reason to be excited and hopeful! Good luck.
