Edwards in driver's seat for starting job - BuffaloBills.com
"Buffalo’s head coach is reserving the right to make a final evaluation, but even Chan Gailey had to admit after Saturday night’s performance by Trent Edwards in the Bills’ 35-20 win over Cincinnati that the man who has been atop the depth chart since training camp began is likely to remain there when a final decision is made."

Gailey is taking advantage of talent on hand - Jerry Sullivan - The Buffalo News
"But things have taken a turn over the past two weeks. Saturday night at Ralph Wilson Stadium, the offense had its second straight encouraging performance in a 35-20 preseason win over the Bengals. With a rejuvenated Trent Edwards leading the way, the Bills' starters scored three touchdowns and displayed a level of competence rarely seen in the Dick Jauron era."

Big night for Spiller and starting offense - BuffaloBills.com
"On C.J. Spiller’s first three carries of the game he had a grand total of minus-16 yards. Buffalo’s offense didn’t go very far on their opening drive either, but things changed dramatically for the first team offense after that. Trent Edwards and company put together three first half scoring drives with Spiller at the center of the action as Buffalo’s first team offense looked primed and ready for the season in a 35-20 victory over Cincinnati."

OT Green liking Spiller’s speed – Inside The Bills
"He’s something else," said Cornell Green. "When I first saw him in minicamps he done made a move on one of our linebackers and I said, ‘Wow, that’s why they picked him.’ It’s good man. He’s got a long way to go too, but we’re stacked back there this year. We’ve got Fred, we’ve got Marshawn, we’ve got him so we might cause a little threat out there."

RB Simpson okay – Inside The Bills
"Simpson was down for a minute or so, but eventually got to his feet after getting the first down following a violent helmet-to-helmet collision between him and Bengals cornerback Brandon Ghee. Ghee was knocked out cold as soon as the helmets collided."

2nd WR role taking shape? – Inside The Bills
"The Bills third preseason game could solidify some starting roles that have been hotly contested through the course of the preseason. One could be the number 2 receiver role where Steve Johnson has been atop the depth chart since training camp opened."

Edwards stands and delivers, again - The Buffalo News
"If there were any question about who is going to be the starting quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, it should be put to rest now. Trent Edwards probably cemented the job with another efficient performance in the Bills' 35-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals at Ralph Wilson Stadium Saturday night."

PFT Mailbag, take two | ProFootballTalk.com
"Edwards seems to be the lesser of three evils at this point, but I continue to be intrigued by the decision of a new G.M. and new head coach not to address the position in the offseason. It seems as if the Bills are willing to tread water at the position for 2010, and that they already have a plan for 2011." Florio also thinks the Bills might go after RFA Dennis Dixon.

That's cool

I walked the picket line last night with my Paul Pozluzny jersey on, my marshawn lynch dread head gear with my walkman clipped to the belt listening to the game on WHAM. My group laughed at me, the cars were blowing horns and I yelled touchdown Buffalo to the scabs on Break everytime the Bills scored. And I am fifty years old. Once your in your in I guess.

Oh and when I was done, I came home and watched the second half of the movie “The Replacements” What are the odds of that?

Just as long as you don't do that everytime you score.....your wife probably wouldn't like that :-)

If all the stars align, pigs learn to fly, humanity achieves world peace, doctors discover a cure for cancer, scientists perfect cold fusion, and hell freezes over, the Bills might win the SB this year.

I have that song on my Blackberry...

and play it in the bar every time we score (hopefully it will be played more frequently this year than years past).

I also have Surfin Bird (as sung on Family Guy) and play that one when he gets a pick….yep I do a stupid dance as well.

I’m much more worried about Cornell Green on the right than I am Bell on the left. Green looked horrible.

Florio is an idiot. Did he watch the game? On the play that CJ lost like 10 yards, he was surround by 6 bengals without a single blocker in the backfield. What the heck does he want him to do?

by quantumuprising on Aug 29, 2010 12:04 PM EDT reply actions

Fall down. A six-yard loss is better than an 11-yard loss. Florio has a point.

by Brian Galliford on Aug 29, 2010 12:48 PM EDT up reply actions

except that florio never makes that point. he just said ‘waaa cj loses lots of yards and going 9 for 68 after that doesn’t make a difference."

if you ask me, scoring two tds and going 50 yards on one drive does make a difference.

also, i still don’t think he was watching the game. im watching the replay on cinci local right now.

negative run play 1: outside stretch play. steve johnson completely whiffs on block. left side of line gets blown up. spiller is met 6 yards in the backfield by the corner; loses a total of 7.

negative run play 2: inside left run. mauluga and safety #34 come off right side completely unblocked. wood and bell, who are doubleteaming, get blown up and pushed 5 yards into the backfield. spilled met by mauluga 5 yards into backfield. spiller has a chance to get to the corner, but then rivers comes through after hangartner/bell miss a block. spiller now has 4 unblocked bengals within three yards of him. this is the point where he should “fall down” as you suggest. he loses three more yards after that.

so, the way i see it, he lost 4 yards on two carries because he didn’t just “fall down.” these are plays on which his blockers were completely blown up and he was met by defenders long before he was anywhere close to the line of scrimmage.

I agree, Florio is an idiot!
