Bills RBs Jackson, Lynch Return To Practice
The Buffalo Bills returned to the practice field in preparation for Thursday's preseason finale against Detroit. Four players that missed a significant chunk of training camp returned to the field today, chief among them running backs Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch.
According to Paul Hamilton at WGR 550, Jackson had a small protective brace on his injured left hand, and was somewhat limited in his return. He did, however, take the first rep with the first-team offense. Hamilton also reports that Lynch looked unencumbered while running. Lynch is expected to play against Detroit.
Rookie tackle Ed Wang also returned to practice, albeit with a cast and protective wrap on his injured hand. He missed a month of workouts after early-August thumb surgery. Cary Harris, a second-year free safety, also made it back onto the field.
Jairus Byrd and Kawika Mitchell were absent from Tuesday's practice, while Shawn Nelson, Derek Schouman, Cornell Green, Donovan Woods and Reggie Torbor watched from the sidelines.

Good news regarding the RBs and Wang. I really hope Byrd gets back soon. Im doubtful for him for the opener… but I really hope that he is back asap. I dont want them to rush himback … but Im hoping he gets healthy soon.
Where else would you rather be?
Easy now...
If you’ve been a Bills fan for any length of time (for me, since 1965), you know the other shoe is just about to drop.
Or at least that’s what recent experience would teach.
This is a new season with a new coach and a new GM and maybe even a revitalized quarterback that all seem suddenly to know what they’re doing.
Too much to hope for…

Am I ignorant or
does it seem that the injuries that have occurred thus far have been unavoidable? In other words have there been pulled hammies, torn ligaments, muscle strains…maybe this strength and conditioning combo really is working out, but we’ll be able to see more in the fourth quarter of real physical games!
So far, in my opinion our injuries have either been of the freak, or unable to plan against type of injuries (or lingering in Byrd's case)
So I think the new program has worked, but the proof for it will be when we are in weeks 7-10 as the majority of preventable injuries appear to happen, or get worse during that span. Usually if a player comes through that block of games in good shape, they tend to avoid Strength and Conditioning injuries, and just seem to suffer standard game style injuries (busted bones, seperated shoulders, etc. the usual wear and tear type).

Where does this leave Bell??
Even though Bell had a very good pre-season will the Bills keep him now that Jackson and Lynch look ready to go? I doubt that the Bills can afford to keep 4 RB’s and a FB when depth is needed on the O-line and D-line not to mention do they keep a extra WR as in Hardy, Jackson or Nelson.
Lots of tough decisions coming up on Saturday.

I suspect they’ll keep Bell until Nelson comes back from suspension. That way he’ll provide a little insurance for Jackson and Lynch while the TEs are undermanned.
I sure hope they keep him longer than that. The Bills just cannot afford to give away talent.

I think we see Bell stick to the roster before Hardy does.

This may be a silly question, but I assume players with hand injuries like Wang and Jackson are still able to work out etc, but just aren’t formally practicing, correct?
To the extent that they don’t use their hands, sure.

Glad to see Wang back...
My girlfriend got me his jersey for my birthday and wanted to see him start to get back on the field. And yes September 12th I will be wearing my Ed Wang jersey.
Hmmmm........
GF got you a “wang” jersey. Not touching that one.
I absolutely HATE having to watch so much Tennessee Oiler football.
