Hearing that CJ Spiller is already gonna start running with the starters after just signing, and is already #1 option at KR and PR

Not surprising with the amount of fumbles that have happened so far.

ha so much for easing him in. Chan must have really wanted his “waterbug” running back

No surprises there
They didn’t draft him to take a few handoffs a game.
With McKelvin looking atrocious catching punts/kicks, and Roscoe looking beyond terrible last year, this isn’t a shock to see him getting the opportunity to take both return jobs. I would be a little shocked if he does end up being the full time punt and kick returner though.

As much as I like McKelvin...
as a return man I really hope they have him focus a little more on corner this year….to me this is kind of his make or break year because so far he has not done too much to convince me he was worth taking that high (I was actually a bigger DRC fan going into the draft as well) but either way I just want to see this guy succeed and have a great year on defense not just as a great special teamer….like roscoe

My bet is that La Canfora is wrong and that Roscoe is the main punt returner. Spiller didn’t do all that well returning punts in college (though he was sensational returning kickoffs). Spiller may get some time in training camp on punts, but that will be mainly to see what he can do and prepare him to come in if Roscoe gets hurt.
I agree...
La Canfora routinely says “my sources say” only as cover for his own musings…

I’d love to see a little evidence for that accusation. La Canfora is rock solid.

Really?
I like the reporting NFL Network does covering most nationally relevant teams, but when it comes to Buffalo, they only scratch the surface. Adam Schefter was solid, La Canfora makes obvious statements and attributes them to sources, “From what I hear, its Peyton’s job to lose as the starting QB for the Colts this year.”
It may take some time, but look for some evidence.

Oh. See, I was under the impression that you already had the evidence, as, well, you’re already claiming it.
Chan Gailey said Friday night that the Bills would bring Spiller along slowly, and gradually get him into the offense as his own pace would allow. This directly refutes that, so I see neither how it is “obvious” nor “his own musings.”

HIs report from April 23, 2010
The NFL Network’s Jason LaCanfora is reporting that the Washington Redskins will trade DT Albert Haynesworth today. The Tennessee Titans is the likely trade partner for the Redskins according to LaCanfora who says the Titans will give up their third-round pick to the Redskins.
The problem: Washington does not have a third-round pick.

Tennessee Does
And they’re the ones giving up the pick.
Obvious in terms of what has already been stated about Spillers potential uses this year (as a RB, WR, KR).
His “own musings” is harder to prove, because he can always hide his inaccurate reports by stating his “sources” were wrong.
I really like the NFl coverage from the NFL network compared to the other outlets, but where Schefter built credibility for the network with consistent and accurate reporting, La Canfora, IMO is just living off of it. His reports are almost always on injuries or something already reported by ESPN or the AP. Like you, I pay attention to many NFL info-giving outlets and La Canfora from his time with the Skins to now, has never impressed me. I would take Jay Glazers word over his any day (at least he turned Leinert into a BEAST).

Oh, and in terms of already having evidence...
that is a little unfair…its stored in this cabeza of mine. I remember when someone says something that is not totally true and I throw them into a box in my head marked “not accurate” . Going back and finding evidence for others to see is what takes time. Just because I dont have the links saved to a clip-board doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

I never said it didn’t happen, but as I don’t have access to your cabeza, nor the various boxes within it, I sort of have to ask for the evidence. :)

This isn't really news
No one’s saying he’s going to start over Fred. It just means he’s going to be an Eric-Metcalf type player. The way I’m reading Gailey, Fred will probably get more carries but Spiller will likely get more touches.
Metcalf had a fantastic career as a RB/WR/KR. It’s exactly how the Bills are planning to use CJ.

I think that’s a very important distinction. I have no idea of knowing which is accurate.

We'll have to see
I want to believe that they’re going to line up Spiller like that. And more importantly, I think I see it happening in the practices.
But the reports of explosive backfields, two backs on the field at the same time threatening the defense in every way imaginable — those reports are usually quite exaggerated when it comes to game planning, I find.

And I know that RB/WR hybrid label is often just talk, but just yesterday in Chris Brown's report
Ryan Fitzpatrick threw a touchdown to Spiller on a slant. Not on a swing pass or a screen.

Fitz completed a pass?

Well, the one pass I remember Fitz completing with a much higher percentage than Edwards during games last year was the slant.

I was joking, I seriously have a hard time not thinking of bounced passes or the one long one to TO.
