He'd probably start this week

If he was playing for buffalo too.

The player I would like least at #9 would be my sister’s cat, Captain Creamsicle. She does have a great work ethic and agility, but I’m really concerned that at 9 lbs., she’s too small to play safety in the NFL. She also bites way too often on play action and is easily distracted by someone waving string in the crowd. Lastly, her wonderlic score was pretty awful, answering "meow meow meow" for most of the questions- Dr. Brackish Okun

At least on my part, this isn’t a ‘I wish the Bills drafted’ Clausen post.

I just think it’s going to be interesting to watch Clausen and see if the Bills, and just about every other team, were correct in passing on him.

I wanted Clausen

I’m just saying,it’s pretty obvious(At least to me) he’d be starting here if we drafted him as well.

he would

but what if hes just another ok QB prospect, which NFL teams seemed to believe by letting him fall to the second? I dont want another one. JP Losman didnt work and Trent Edwards didnt work. Give me blue chip QB prospect or give me death!!

yes

more this. That was my concern with Clausen, is he great or average. The bills dont need average.

at this point, I would love to see an average QB starting for the Bills

i’ll be upset if he does good just because we’ve needed someone to be just average at this point at the position……

Nature of the game

I wasn’t a Clausen supporter, but at this point it seems rather dumb to have passed on him…but depending on who they draft next year, it won’t matter. Basically I see the Clausen debate lasting this year, and I would be surprised if people held onto it beyond the 2011 draft….I hope….

Yea

But he still started week 2. Got benched for poor performance. Clausen is now the man down here in NC.

Clausen > Troup

I know a lot of people will get mad at me for dwelling on this, but truthfully I don’t care. I still remember where I was when the Bills passed on Clausen. I was sitting in my law school class tuned into draft tracker along with a handful of my classmates. Being from all different parts of the country, we each had our own team we were pulling for. Everyone knew I was a Bills fan, and through Gchat I was talking up how much I wanted Clausen with our first overall pick.

That pick came and went and….. CJ SPILLER?? Weird but hey he’s a great player. I was shocked at first but eventually it started growing on me through the first round. Then the second round came. The chatting started up again could Clausen possibly slip to our 2nd round pick?!? Oh man at this point I’m telling everyone how awesome we are gonna be in 2-3 years and how amazing our draft was. THE BILLS SELECT NT TROUP flashes across my screen. Everyone told me my face turned ghostly white. I was in complete disbelief.

That blown pick was in the past, and consider this me not dwelling on it any longer. Clausen would be the starter on Buffalo right now, and I wish him all the luck in the world in Carolina. If the Bills pass on another franchise QB in the upcoming draft, which will be a top 5 pick, it will test my fan loyalty like never before.

Yeah

This upcoming draft and whom they target will tell were this franchise is heading.

I think a QB that hasn’t taken an NFL snap is about as good as Leinart.

Which isn’t very good. In three years you can gripe about this. When you see if Troup develops into a stud NT and if Clausen develops into a stud QB.

Right now this is nothing more than pining after some kid you watched play college ball and liked a lot.

Lets make this very clear people. Just because Claussen is starting doesn't make him any good.

Claussen starting in Carolina is like Fitzy starting for us. It’s not a choice, it’s a lack of options due to horrible QB play.

Disagree

It’s not a lack of options….it’s having extra talent. They have their new toy and they were waiting to use it and now it’s finally time to take it out the box and play with it. You really can’t compare Clausen to Fitzy (just yet, if he fails or is a bust then yes you can) but a top rated QB coming into the draft with a lot of potential is not the same as a career backup guy who was taken in the 5th round. Sorry. I never was a big fan of taking Clausen anyways but I’m just saying if in fact he does succeed it will make this organization look pretty bad.

I disagree. If Nix had Claussen rated in the third (as most NFL teams seem to have had him rated as) then passing on him was the right thing.

As for taking out a new toy, it still doesn’t mean that it’s a good toy. I’m reading this post and it almost seems like people are calling him a superstar before he’s even played a down in the NFL.

I'm calling him better than anyone on the roster right now.

Thats hardly super stardom though.

Superstar

he is NOT…..but the possibility is there that’s all I’m saying if you really had the choice on your nfl to start Clausen or Fitzy your tellin me you’d take Fitzy? NO WAY I’m not saying Clausen is a superstar or that the Bills should have taken him but Clausen starting in Carolina is certainly not like Fitzy starting for us that’s the point I’m making

You’re right it’s not. Clausen could be a superstar or he could last half a quarter, throw four picks, and get carted off the field.

Being unknown doesn’t, inherently make him better. We have Brohm to run around with screaming about being unknown and possibly awesome. Why do someone insist on pining over guys on other teams.

I’d also argue that Moore isn’t getting benched by an 0-2 team because their so good they can take a chance on Clausen but that Moore is getting benched because four ints, 3 fumbles, 8 sacks, and a 40% completion rate.
