Any Unsigned Vets out there?

This post is more of a question to my very informed Rumbler's than anything else. Now that we have benched Trent Edwards, yet again, and probably for the last time, are there any veteran QB's that we can take a look at?

Hear me out before you ask who my drug dealer is!

Now I know bringing in an old vet is something that a lot of you will find to be a crazy notion, however, is bringing in a backup (to a glorified backup "aka Trent" anywhere else in the league) the best option also? I bring about this question because it seems to me that when another team has an issue like this (starting QB goes down, not performing, not consistent, etc.), someone else gets signed.

Now I understand that we are most likely going for a QB in the next draft (barring any dynamic RB's on the board) so we would only need the vet for this year, possibly next while we are grooming our rookie. I see an upside in two ways by doing this:

1. We get someone with proven experience to play out the season and be a bit more competitive this year and..
2. Have a vet to groom our rookie superstar of the future next year (and Brohm).

I also ask; are there and good QB's out there waiting to be called up? If so, who?

I ask this question, and turn to you Rumbler's because I know you know your football. I also pose this question because I;

A. Dont see Fitz putting us in a position to win a whole lot more than anyone else we have now and
B. - I don't see Fitz grooming out rookie QB next year (or helping Brohm for that matter).

All three of our QB's right now are 2nd or 3rd QBs anywhere else in the league; so where is the downside of bringing in a unsigned vet (even if he is over the hill, doesn't know the playbook, lost a step, etc.)

Im also aware that it's only week 3 and probably a tad early for hysteria, but it seems that the wheels are coming off this wagon pretty fast.

Your thoughts?

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.
