I don't know a ton about him, but I've read some pretty positive stuff about his potential.  Why not sign him off the 49ers practice squad and cut Trent?  What would we have to lose by doing that?  They obviously realize (as we all do) that Trent is not the long term (or short term for that matter) answer at QB.  So, why not take a free shot at someone like Davis.  He could be the third QB every week, give him an entire season to learn the offense and maybe towards the end of the year he could see the field.  Give us a chance to see what he could do. 

That wouldn't cost us anything (unless you consider Trent something) but we'd get a free chance to take a closer look at a potential QB option for us.  One that maybe has some upside.  Now I don't know if OBD even thinks this guy is worth a closer look, but if they did, then what would we have to lose?
