What other teams do Rumblers bleed for?
We all love our Bills. But I am curious, since we are a varied community of Bills fans, we are also sports fans. As such, I am curious as to what our secondary teams are. Many of us have a second (or even third) team in another sport that we root for almost as passionately (or just as passionately) as we do for the Buffalo Bills. I know that a lot of people are going to post "SABRES BABY YEEEAHH" so, just for this exercise, if the Sabres are your secondary team, your post is probably going to look a lot like a bunch of other people's.
So what teams do you passionately root for other than the Bills?
My secondary team is the Utah Jazz. I live in Arkansas, but I can't stand anything Dallas, so I don't have a local pro team for any sport. I love to play jazz, so it was only natural for me to adopt the Utah Jazz as my favorite basketball team. Fortunately around the time I did, they went to two NBA Finals so it was easy to get interested and follow them more deeply. Andrei Kirilenko is some kind of hero to me.
Then there's the Razorbacks. I have been to Bills games but nothing will ever top the sheer bloodlust I get from cheering "Woooooooooooooooooooooooo PIG SOOIE!!!!!" with 70,000 other Hogs fans.
I like the Yankees in baseball somewhat. I don't have a passionate feeling about other teams.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Rival Blazer fan. Always liked the Razorbacks. But nothing close to the Bills. What instrument to you play?

Yeah, horn can be a great jazz instrument
I’ve played a concert and a dance with a guy named Richard Todd who was a great jazz horn player.

Montreal Canadians
I’ve been a hockey fan for much longer than I’ve been a football fan. And even though football has become my favorite sport (in no small part because of this site) I have always been and will always be a die hard Habs fan.

I will copy your comment with just inserting the Toronto Maple Leafs rather than Les Canadiens. Grew up a huge hockey fan, now would rather watch football on a Sunday than hockey on a Saturday, although luckily I don’t have to make the choice, just do both. Also love the Blue Jays, Raptors and Argos, sensing a Toronto theme here?
CBF I do enjoy watching a Toronto Montreal game, can’t top the rivalry!
Why I'm a optimistic Bills fan:

Definitely my favorite hockey game to watch. Who know maybe I’ll come down sometime this year with my Rocket Richard jersey and we can have a beer during a game. Although I do run the risk of being chased out of Toronto by an angry mob!
I’m a Jays fan too (for the little baseball I watch). I’m a big CFL fan, but until Ottawa gets a team back, I have no allegiances. As for basketball, not really a fan of the sport. I’d rather watch a game of curling than basketball.

Having a beer with a friendly rivalry sounds great to me! I watched the infamous game in 92, where Gretzky beat us in game 7 when he should have been in the box, with a bunch of Canadians fans wanting it to be a Toronto Montreal final, very sad.
CURLING yes, love it, have always watched the Brier and Tournament of Hearts since I was a wee tot. Love listening to Russ Howard bellow, lol!

Honestly i was rooting for the leafs to win that one too. Really wanted to see that Habs-Leafs final.
And Howard is a hoot to listen too. Love watching the Brier. To me curling is like chess on ice, it’s all about long term planning and strategy.

Chess with screaming, could anything be more Canadian? Has any sport evolved more over the last ten years. Used to be a bunch of big guys with a beer in their hands, now they have the stop watches, calculate the angles on run back quad take outs.

Nothing really compares to my love for the Bills though the New York Knicks come close but are still a clear second. A fact I didnt realize until friends pointed it out to me. Im a die hard Knicks fan during the basketball season, but I’m a die hard Bills fan year round – hence why I post here all the time.
In my lifetime I’m 0-6 in championship games between the two teams that I love. Then you add to that the Music City Miracle and Reggie Miller the Knick Killer and I’m curious if anyone else on here can relate to my lifetime of heart break as a sports fan.
"I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly"
you happen to catch
the 30 for 30 special they did about the rivalry between the knicks and the pacers? had to of watched that about 3 times last week. the trash talk between reggie and john and reggie and spike was priceless
i didnt catch it
but only because I couldnt bring myself to watch it because I really really cant stand Reggie Miller and have bad memories of him. But I used to love Spike during those playoff runs, he was like a 6th man on the court for us.
"I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly"
The only team I really care about like the Bills is the Sabres, and even that doesn’t compare as much anymore. When I followed other sports, Yankees in baseball, Suns in basketball, UVA Cavaliers in CFB.

Sabres obviously, baseball sucks, basketball is just okay until playoffs
I like good teams honestly. I like watching good well put together and organized sports teams. I love watching great players (Peyton is right up there with Bruce Smith for me) and great teams as long as their not in the same division as the Bills.
Pretty much just good sports being played – i’ll bandwagon teams like the Saints and Colts until they suck again then i’ll like someone more exciting. I think I have that right because I am an avid Bills/Sabres fan and those are my primary teams whom no matter what are what i’m paying attention to and rooting for
I'm not sure we have the tools or the talent....
i’ll bandwagon teams like the Saints and Colts
I don’t bandwagon teams, but once the Bills are out of it, I always root for the football team that has never won a superbowl. Like the Saints. I was so disappointed that Arizona lost to Pittsburgh. I guess I figure if enough Bills fans do that when we are not in the mix, we’ll build up enough collective good karma to finally win one for the Bills.

I seem to pick up a new team every time I move
Hockey – Sabres (and college hockey Yale)
College Bball – Duke
Baseball – Red Sox
Like a lot of other Rumblers and WNYers, I love my Cuse. I get more into Syracuse basketball games than I do the Bills (although I think that’s entirely because I believe Syracuse is playing for national championships and the Bills are playing for national recognition). Still watch Orange football when I can too.

Knicks ( I hope carmello comes to ny next year)

Although, I am excited to see what the current squad can do. I thikn we’ll surprise people – D’Antoni finally has a team to run with!
"I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly"
I’m hoping we can get the right point guard so D’antoni can run his system the right way…when that happens we will start to see some progress
Rrrawrrrr, rrrawrrr like a dungeon dragon-Busta Ryhmes
who do you have in mind?
And I will just say, Im down for whatever trade to get a baller so long as Gallinari is not part of the deal. Gallo is the man.
"I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly"
I was hoping it would be Chris paul but those rumors ended up being not true but I would love to see Jose Calderon from Toronto somehow get to the Knicks he would be a perfect fit wit D’antoni I know he would turn into a steve nash type player in the system we run but I will settle for Tony Parker he will end up being traded at the trade deadline this year
Rrrawrrrr, rrrawrrr like a dungeon dragon-Busta Ryhmes
There are worse things than settling for Tony Parker, I know people are down on him but I think hes got a few good seasons left. I think hes only 28 right?

The Bills come in second vs the mighty Man Utd, and i am afraid it is not even all that close!
Beyond that I will back The England/Great Britain team in most sports, Leicester Tigers in Rugby and for very obscure reasons Corinthians in Brazil, Austria Vienna and Levski Sofia in Bulgaria.
I guess i also have a passing interest in the Blue Jays as I went watch them a couple of times many years ago when i was in Toronto

I try like crazy to get into other sports, but I can't commit to them the way I can football.
I was a fan of the Seattle Supersonics when Shawn Kemp played for them, and have liked the Celtics ever since the emergence of Larry Bird.
I’m sorry but Baseball is BEYOND boring. I hate to admit it, but back in the day I really like Jose Conseco. So I guess I was an A’s fan for a bit. Still, the game bores me to no end.
Golf. Child please.
Hockey. I support the Sabres, but I can’t get into a full season. It’s too long.
It might sound bad, but I do like the 49ers. Unless they play the Bills, I support them. It’s not terrible to have a 2nd team to follow. But it’s not like I express myself as a big time fan of them. I just find them to be my favorite NFC team.
There’s little room in my fandom for much other than the Bills full-time. It’s funny to me how passionate I can be in support of them when it’s so terrible most seasons.

well, i do have 2 NY teams, but i’m not an avid hockey or nba fan anymore. once upon a time i was but right now it’s definitely all about the bills and the yanks. watching college football has turned into seeing the up and coming talent that’s going to be drafted into the nfl. don’t get me wrong, now that weiss is gone from notre dame i think they’ll turn it around and be way more entertaining, but at the moment i definatly bleed buffalo blue and red and yankee pinstripes!
MLB – Mets
CBB – Syracuse Orange
NBA – NY Knicks
CFB – I root for a playoff above all things. I hate Notre Dame.
NHL – Nobody really, but I kind of root for the Caps after living in DC for so long. I think they’d have to cut the season to about 55 games in order for it to really grab my attention.
I’m 1 for 9 in title games since I’ve been an active sports fan. The Mets won when I was a a baby in ‘86, so I don’t really count that.
by Dr. Brackish Okun on Sep 4, 2010 9:29 PM EDT reply actions
yup
I dont count the Mets in my 0-6 total because I was too young to remember or even know what was going on.
"I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly"
also
Mets are a distant third to the Knicks who are second to the Bills. 5 Mets titles wouldnt mean as much as one Bills title. Heck, not as much as one Knicks title. I’d also take one Bills title over any other combination of victories, if that wasnt obvious enough.
Looks like we root for a lot of the same teams, doc.
"I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly"
While baseball is my least favorite sport (I couldn’t watch any non-Mets or non-playoff games), the Mets are my favorite team. While the Bills are an incredibly close second, I come from a family of Met fans. A bunch of my Mom’s family worked at Shea while I was growing up, so I went to a ton of games growing up.
However, if either the Bills or Mets, and even the Knicks won a championship, I’d be having a pretty good year.

Shea was awesome, thats pretty cool that you have family that worked there. Of course, given my history of never cheering for a champion, I too would be ecstatic with a title for any of my teams. Though the Bills winning one would have such incredible significance I might explode.

NHL – Sabres
MLB – God help me, the Indians. When I was a kid growing up in Buffalo in the late 1950s – early 1960s, everyone’s favorite team was the Yankees. Their dominance seemed almost unfair to me, so I decided to pick some other team to root for. I decided to pick one based on proximity. Couldn’t figure out if Pittsburgh or Cleveland was closer, and I landed on Cleveland. I’ve stuck with them through thin and thin.
College FB & Basketball – the "Cuse
College hockey & lacrosse – Cornell
NBA – lost interest
College: USC Gamecocks
College Hockey: Clarkson University (Go Tech!)
NHL: Carolina Hurricanes
CFL: BC Lions (I used to cheer for Ottawa, but that team hasn’t existed in a while now. Sad.)
Baseball: Minor League teams where ever I’m located & especially the Greenville Drive (former home town team after the Braves left).

My favs
Bills have always been #1 but in baseball its the Angels and in basketball its the Kings (although I started out liking the Magic first I then followed Sacramento until I pretty much was all Sacramento). I thought about this the other day but (most likely) this will the first time in 13 years that none of my teams made the playoffs. I assume the Bills won’t although if they do I will count it as 2011.
Teams I bleed for...
only one… The Buffalo Bills!!!
NFL teams I hate?? The other 31, with the top spot going to whoever we’re playing next….
Other sports, teams I cheer for….
College… The Dawgs!!
Baseball.. The Braves!!
The draft dawns a new year for Buffalo Bills fans, so let optimism reign supreme!!! After all, we are now, UNDEFEATED!!!!
