Who The Bills Will Place On The Practice Squad
Now that the Buffalo Bills have trimmed their roster to the 53 maximum for the regular season, 8 players have the chance to be placed on the practice squad. These players show enormous upswing for the future with more time for development and can be used in cases of major injuries to the current roster, which as many Bills fans know, can happen quite often.
Here are the players that the Bills will retain provided that they stick to the players that were only with the team during training camp and do not go searching the market.
QB Levi Brown: Showing a lot of upside marred by inconsistency and a lack of experience, the former seventh round pick certainly has the opportunity to grab a backup job in the future. Remember, the Bills drafted him on the assumption of him being a project to develop.
RB Joique Bell: A player who absolutely shows strength with his running probably missed the regular season cut more of a result from the Bills already having three dynamic running backs (Jackson, Lynch, and Spiller). He has a ton of talent and if he can also become more adept at special teams play would likely make the roster in the future.
FB Rodney Ferguson: A powerful blocker and rusher, Ferguson suffered mostly from inexperience, hence being a practice squad candidate. Like Bell, Ferguson missed the cut due to three excellent rushers and McIntyre's experience and versatility.
OL Nick Hennessey: Any Bills fan knows that any offensive line will likely be plagued by injuries. Hennessey, though undrafted, showed a lot of upswing during the preseason, although suffered from inconsistent play. A big guy that can stop the run on the inside, Hennessey is sure to have an impact in the future.
OL Jason Watkins: The former Florida prospect likewise shows potential and his versatility from guard to tackle (his position in Florida) as well as his size makes him a keeper for the squad.
WR Naaman Roosevelt: After serving as Buffalo's (Bulls) top receiver, Roosevelt definitely has the ability to play in the NFL with his ability to make catches, but lacks special teams training which ultimately led to his being cut. With only five wide receivers going into the regular season and Marcus Easley on the IR, the Bills are likely to keep Roosevelt to use in case another wide out goes out.
DL Rashaad Duncan: A big guy on the line, a few analysts thought he stood a chance to make the final cut, but obviously lost out to McCargo. Bearing inconsistent play by McCargo in the future, Duncan may be called up for his rushing ability.
DB Lydell Sargeant: Obviously showing talent, Sargeant suffered from an experienced Bills secondary. Sargeant's biggest worry to making the squad is native Jon Corto's ability to recover well enough from his PUP time. Provided Corto is healthy enough in 6 weeks to claim a roster spot, the Bills are likely to move down DB Harris (either one) as Corto is a coveted special teams asset whose presence is obviously missed.
Of these players, Bell, Roosevelt, Hennessey and Brown are likely locks for the squad provided that they aren't claimed by another team. Obviously, we hope that they are able to stick around to help the Bills in the future, but just not in the immediate future.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Not exactly what one looks for in an O-Lineman.
