Around SBN: Jeremy Lin Sets Assist High In Easy Win Over Sacramento

a few potential targets

I've been scanning the wire to see what kind of help we could get to deepen our OL, I figured that I'd share my findings with my fellow rumblers.  I've included the ESPN Insider's comments

Justin Hartwig

Comment: Hartwig, going into his ninth year in the league, is consistent. He is a tough, gritty pivot man who lacks ideal quickness and athletic ability, but he fights hard on every snap and gets the most out of his ability. As centers go, he is stout up the middle and is difficult to bull rush. His technique is sound and he is intelligent with his line calls, the angles he takes toward his opponent and his overall understanding of the position. Hartwig is more comfortable at center, but he also can play guard.

I like this guy a lot, I just wonder if OBD doesn't prefer finding a pure guard instead, given the fact that Wood can also play Center ?

Star-divide

Tank Tyler, NT

Comment: Tyler is a powerful space-eater who does a good job of clogging up the middle and freeing up linebackers to run and make plays. He has above-average initial quickness but lacks the acceleration, once he gets to the edge, to pressure the pocket or create problems in the backfield. He needs work on recognizing blocking schemes and feeling pressure, but once he locates the ball he can be a force. He has extremely strong hands that can shock opponents and shed blockers with ease.

Sure sounds like a NT to me, I am not convinced that going into the season with just Williams and Troup is the safe approach.  I was surprised that McCargo made the team.  I think Tyler would probably be an upgrade over McCargo, which could leave more options to move Williams around.

So there you go, after scanning the wire these 3 guys sort of jumped out to me as potential targets at positions that I think we need some help at.  I am not attaching a poll, I just wanted to get these names out there to you guys so that we could discuss the possibility.  Please feel free to add names to the target list.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

My bad, I misread the yahoo bulletin.

I’ve corrected my post. Thanks for the heads up.

It can always get worse. Let me tell you how.

Names

Two names that caught my eye were on Philadelphia’s cut list: WR Kelley Washington and G Max Jean-Gilles. Washington is an excellent special teams player who has some actual NFL experience playing WR (something Buffalo’s roster currently demands) and Jean-Gilles is a much more efficient safety valve on the interior than Howard, who belongs on the practice squad from what I’ve seen of him…I’d also swap Foschi for Anthony Becht.

Jean-Giles is back with Philly. He was only cut due to some kind of issue with a trade.

The Bills talked to Washington on a free agent visit earlier this offseason, but chose not to sign him.

TE...

Cornelius Ingram got released in Philly i would definitely consider him lots of upside

He’s had multiple knee surgeries and has lost a great deal of his athleticism. His career is almost over.

That’s a shame, he was nasty in college. I remember hoping we’d land him when he was falling in the draft last year.

Enjoying my annual three months of optimism.

How about...

TE Chase Coffman, released by the Bengals?

Our Wang don’t Hang; it’s a Calloway Wood cause we got Levitre.

His knees are already shot, and he can’t block to save his life. His hands may be grat, but nothing about the rest of his game is even average. Pass.

Hartwig was the only lineman I liked much when scanning the waiver wire for depth last night.

I’m sure he will get some interest from a few teams,

There's not a wide receiver who is fast enough, that J.P. Losman can't overthrow him on a fly pattern.

TONY RICHARDSON PLEASE!!!!

The Jets have cut Tony Richardson, the Pro Bowl FB because of John Connor who is younger and cheaper. Please please please sign him Buffalo! He could teach CJ Spiller and Marshawn Lynch so much about running the ball correctly and would give us a great blocking veteran for our running game!

I'd take Owen Schmidt...

first before an over the hill Richardson…

The draft dawns a new year for Buffalo Bills fans, so let optimism reign supreme!!! After all, we are now, UNDEFEATED!!!!

by Cinga on Sep 5, 2010 7:21 PM EDT up reply actions

So you’d rather have an under achiever over the best FB in the game today? Over the hill or not, Richardson is still the best at his position in the whole league, baring maybe Leron McClain.
