NFL Opening Night GameThread: Saints vs Vikings

New Orleans Saints (0-0) vs Minnesota Vikings (0-0)
Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 8:30 PM EDT
Louisiana Superdome, New Orleans, LA
If you're anything like me, you're done waiting for football. Many Bills fans are purists, and only watch NFL games not involving Buffalo as a mild form of entertainment. Background noise, if you will. I'm the exact opposite. I'm nearly as excited for tonight's Saints/Vikings matchup as I am for Bills/Dolphins on Sunday.
I imagine a few of you will be watching tonight's game. Should you feel the need to comment about the awesome of these two teams, the massive amount of former Bills players on the field, or anything relating to the telecast, this is the place to do it. The NFL is back. Soak it in!

He’s been behind Devery Henderson all preseason, and that’s not likely to change. Don’t play him.

Yikes. How many teams in your league? How many WRs to you start?

Boy, you’re chock full of disappointing young receivers. :)
I’d go with Royal. He’s got the best matchup and the best shot at playing time. But then again, I haven’t won a championship in like four years.

haha yeah
he is returning too. I went Brees, RB, RB, WR

What’s available in FA?
Of those, I’d start Royal simply because Jax’s secondary is atrocious – but I wouldn’t expect anything from him on a consistent basis. Jabar Gaffney on the other hand…

Hmm….well, I’d def. pick up Massaquoi. But it becomes a coin flip between Massaquoi and Royal. I like Massaquoi as a receiver A LOT more, but then you’re gambling that Jake Delhomme isn’t completely dead yet. They both have nice match-ups.
I think I’d start Massaquoi personally, but it’s pretty close.

How will Farve’s ankle hold up? Will he have good chemistry with his receivers? This should be a good one.
Been to New Orleans twice. One of the best foodie cities in this country. Drove up the river and visited many antebellum plantations. Wonderful experience. Had a mint julep on the veranda of Oak Alley. Among other events.

Almost As Excited?
Please! You disappoint me! How can this possibly be anywhere near a Bills Game???
Get it together.
I got the Yuengling standing by, and I’m prepared to drink anytime the following things are discussed during the game:
- Brett Favre’s love for the game
- Brett Favre being referred to as a “warrior”
- Brett Favre “just having fun out there” or “just having fun with the guys”
- Camera shots of T-Jax staring out onto the field from the sideines dejectedly
- Camera shots of Brett Favre’s ankle up close (like we’d be able to see something through his sock, cleat, and several layers of tape

Collinsworth is a horrible color man
He keeps going on about the Saints cut back play.
Ummm, Cris, it only works because Childress is a freakin’ moron and has been throwing this entire half, which has eliminated the running game which could have kept you in a 5 point game. Since your always throwing, the D is on the field more, which means they get tired, which means the run game will work against it.
Its NOT just the cut back play, have some balls, and point out the fact that Chilly screwed the pooch on this one pal.

And for their first pick in the 2011 draft the Buffalo Bills select ...........
Childress, he completely cost the Vikes the game
He passed all the second half when Adrian was carving up the Saints D in the 1st half, and was giving the Vikes D a break by chewing up clock, they were only down 5, all they had to do was churn up the field twice on the ground, kick 2 FGs, and let a rested D keep control of the game. Chilly froze, felt he had to redeem himself and Farve on National TV by out passing the Saints. Stupid Stupid Stupid.

So thatwasa fun game.
A little bit lower scoring then I expected. A couple of quick thoughts. Favre looked like a guy who needed a few more pre season series. Phil Loadholt looked overmatched all night. And both teams kickers kind of sucked. Also don’t know that I was a fan of that whole player’s union solidarity thing at the beginning of the game.
The player I would like least at #9 would be my sister’s cat, Captain Creamsicle. She does have a great work ethic and agility, but I’m really concerned that at 9 lbs., she’s too small to play safety in the NFL. She also bites way too often on play action and is easily distracted by someone waving string in the crowd. Lastly, her wonderlic score was pretty awful, answering "meow meow meow" for most of the questions- Dr. Brackish Okun
I thought Favre played fairly well for just returning a week or so ago. I just googled photos of his injury from the playoff game last year…oh momma!

Farve..............thanks for sucking so bad.
Had Favre had a halfway decent game……they probably coulda won.
Kudos to Sean Payton for changing up the game plan in the 2nd half…..
But both teams will be much better when they meet again in the playoffs.

Some gripes from last night...
Does Direct TV need to highlight the Bills in a negative way in all of their ads?
Before pregame commentary was done with, I knew one thing: Rodney Harrison needs a muzzle.
