An interesting note
If home playoff games were not awarded to teams for winning their divisions, none of the Eagles, Colts, Chiefs, or winner of the division even the Bills could have won would have been awarded a home game in the first round of the playoffs. It's possible that all four home teams will be underdogs next week.

Don't fix what isn't broken
The NFL should leave the playoff seeding the way it is for now. Otherwise it takes away the prestiege of winning your conference. It isn’t Seattles fault their conference sucks, there’s an overall lack of talent in the NFL right now. The NFL is already considering adding games which some believe is going to shorten careers and increase the injury lists.
Now they want to change the playoff format? I say, leave it alone!

No, but it is Seattle’s fault that they suck – they went 3-7 against the rest of the league! And Kansas City had such an easy schedule it’s absurd; they played one team with ten wins, and only two playoff teams (Indy and Seattle). Yet they could only win 10 games against that schedule. Compare to the Jets, who went 11-5 against a schedule that included New England (twice), Pittsburgh, Chicago, Baltimore, and Green Bay.
You win your division you’re guaranteed a trip to the playoffs and a home game.
If you don’t win your division there’s two spots open for you to be in the playoffs, you just have to go on the road in the playoffs if you qualify that way.
I don’t see why that’s so controversial.
If you want the 6 best teams in each conference just scrap the divisions and have everyone play everyone else once (plus another to make it 16).
