Does Von Miller remind you of someone?

Ok, so i absolutely hated the Maybin pick and almost died when we did not take Orakpo. I know, its old and its pointless to cry over spilt milk, but it isn't pointless to learn from your MISTAKES. If you watch this guy, that Gailey is "so high on," he looks just like Maybin. Same size, and literally just tries and run around Offensive tackles. He does NOT have the size to be able to stop the run. I absolutely love the play he makes at 2:10 . He is almost the identical prospect that Maybin was. The only difference is he played a little longer in college. I can do this job from my computer, watching youtube videos and its pathetic. Its not hard, and I am sure a bunch of you could do it too lol.
My only hope is that we are picking high enough where our Bills and their amazing scouting staff can't make the mistake and pick this guy. But I said that with many players over the last 10 years. I really hope they just do the right thing, and the most simple/obvious thing and take Fairley (if he is there) or Bowers. These are 2 can't miss prospects that would solidify a much needed pass rushing position/stop the run. Even Dareus would be a solid pick. Our run defense was 32 in the league. Taking a guy like Von Miller that will not be able to contribute to stopping the run makes no sense and thats why the Bills will take him for sure.
I am betting right now that the Bills will once again mess up and take Von Miller. I am used to this team now and their drafting ways and know they will go with Von Miller. Its a perfect pick for Buffalo to make based on their past history of amazing 1st round draft picks. He will give us maybe a special teams player that will get pushed around by guys much bigger than him and will not contribute anything to helping this defense stop the run. Which is our most needed area to improve on.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

I'll take that bet
I HIGHLY doubt they take Von Miller unless it is related to a trade down.

I'll take that bet also...
if last year’s draft proved anything (CHIX first) it’s that they value size. Troup, Carrington, Moats, Wang, Batten,& Easley. All had NFL measurables. Maybin was a Jauron era pick. Chan Gailey,as well as Buddy Nix, is always talking about getter bigger and more physical.

I wouldn’t read too much into Gailey’s comments on Von Miller. Right now, Gailey is the head coach of the players on that team, this is a big week for these kids and he’s there to help them. So I think it’s to be expected that he’d be positive about them. I’ve watched his press conferences each day on buffalobills.com and he hasn’t been very critical of anyone and I think has tried to accentuate everyone’s positives.
As for Fairley being the simple and obvious pick, I don’t think that’s true at all. Nix has stated we’re drafting for a 3-4 defense. After reading Der Jaegers great post explaining the different fronts and schemes, I don’t know how Williams and Fairley would fit in a 3-man front. Of the DL at the top of the draft, Dareus seems to be the best fit.
I agree...
…I think Marcell Dareus makes the most sense as far as BPA & filling a need in replacing Stroud in Edward’s hybrid 3-4 defense.
I am on the fence on whether I would prefer the Bills to trade down or draft Dareus, but in the end if the Bills can get additional late 1st, 2nd, and 3rd picks, they should do so.

I doubt they take him...
but he reminds me of Cornelius “the biscuit” Bennett
I still remember flying paper airplanes at One Bills Drive during a game against the Redskins during the strike year... my first Bills game.
I own a Rob Johnson signed jersey, so with that in mind if i like the Bills QB just expect him to fall on a football and break his ribs.

Biscuit....
now that was a guy that played “huge” for his size. He actually used his speed to his advantage, just like Aaron Maybin ;)

If...
…Miller turns into 3/4s the player Biscuit was, then trade down a few spots and make the pick. Some team will want to trade up for either Peterson, Prince A., or A.J. Green.

Drafting "smallish" LBs a bad idea
It’s like drafting a 6’8" center from college. Sure he may have been dominant in college at that height, but will not succeed at the next level. Case in point, Maybin.

Yeah
Okay, he’s an exception. And a hell of a value pick for the Spurs! Too bad Maybin couldn’t be the Dejuan Blair of OLBs!!

actually he's the starting center so try again.

Just because Gailey is high on him
publicly doesn’t really mean much.
His boss, Buddy Nix, said he wants to get bigger at LB – Von Miller doesn’t jive with this thought process.
There are also a million reasons why Gailey could have said what he said.
1. Hes similar to Maybin, maybe hes sending Maybin a message that your not special and we can easily replace you whenever we want.
2. Maybe he finds out he really likes the kid – by all accounts Von Miller is a highly intelligent, classy, high character college kid. Maybe Gailey just wants to help out a good guy by boosting his stock as he can, like a good letter of recommendation from a boss who always liked you.
3. Maybe he wants to falsely boost his stock to trick some linebacker needy team later in the round to pick him (like the Patriots) by saying these things when he believes the kid is a bust.
I just dont believe you can deduce we take Miller at 3.

I think you’ve got pretty much everything covered. This time of year is all about smoke and mirrors, poker faces, etc. Nothing can be drawn from his comments. Chan is just playing the part, Mr. Non-Committal with positive views on all the players. But I sure hope he gets a tough ILB to replace that bum Pozluany or however you say his name- jkg :)

hahahahah, nicely done.
Chan is just playing the part
Right and I’m glad that he’s doing it. The less other teams know about what the Bills want to do the better for our own draft strategy.
i’m sure i’m going to regret this conversation… but what the hell - J2
i really don’t think the other teams care about our strategy. Im sure most of the good teams just laugh when we draft
because im sure the Chargers didnt care when we took CJ Spiller. If anything teams care MORE about the strategy of a team that doesn’t know what its doing so they can be ready to adjust if necessary. Its like playing poker with a terrible player – I’ll play a good player over a terrible player and feel more comfortable anyday.
And teams are interested in our strategy considering we are a new regime that they are unfamiliar with completely. They have yet to figure out Buddy Nix and its in our best interest to maintain that as long as we can.
i’m sure i’m going to regret this conversation… but what the hell - J2

I thought that would lighten your day a little. I don’t read every post, but lately you’ve been taking a lot of flak about the hardest working guy on the team (besides Shawn Merriman) ;)

haha thanks my friend
it sure did lighten my day, especially because of how much Poz has been getting roasted here on rumblings. I sincerely hope he is back with the team – and I hope Shawne is healthy and ready to help out as well!
i’m sure i’m going to regret this conversation… but what the hell - J2
I'm with ya....
we can’t afford to lose any productive bodies at this point. We’re so shallow in talent, that if we let him go where is Chan going to “stack players on top of players”? Got to a have a foundation somewhere. Like you’ve said he is a Teddy Brewski or however say his name (LOL)- type. Glue type of player that you have to have. Again like you say you can’t have All-Pros at every position unless you’re playing Madden- ha ha.

I highly doubt we could “trick” the patriots on taking the guy. The patriots know what they are doing. They don’t need Chan Gailey to trick them lol. I am sure the laughed when we took Maybin and every other guy we took. The patriots made almost every pick count last year and in the mean time picked up another billion draft picks for this year. I doubt the patriots will ever be tricked by the Bills
what is your point
I notice you keep responding on a point of the Bills being laughed at. So because we probably won’t trick the Patriots means we shouldn’t try? If thats your outlook as GM your not doing your job.
i’m sure i’m going to regret this conversation… but what the hell - J2
my point is that the bills are not smart enough to trick the pats and the fact that the pats have beaten us for 15 straight games has shown that. so by you saying he may be saying that to “trick” the pats into taking him is a worthless point. the pats know what they are doing and they wouldn’t be tricked by chan gailey saying that he is good. They have their own scouts and they do a great job. They know when players are good and bad and they show that every year by capitalizing on almost every draft pick they make and by accumulating multiple picks for the next years draft.
he wasnt speaking directly to the Patriots
so no it isnt WORTHLESS, I said trick teams and used the Pats as an example. Either way, they do no know Chan Gailey yet and very well could be tricked by him we have the advantage of a new front office on our side that they don’t. If your going to give up on trying to get the mental edge on the Patriots then you can forget about ever being better than them again. Come on.
i’m sure i’m going to regret this conversation… but what the hell - J2

getting a mental edge over the patriots would take a whole new “intelligent” front office and a new owner
Reminds me of Van Miller
I miss Van. Looking forward to missing maybin.
Van Miller is/was awesome.

You sometimes get what you say you want
Keep speaking up negative results, don’t be surprised when that’s what you get.
I've heard nothing of the sort
I hear Miller has a myriad of moves, can drop into coverage and IS good against the run, also he has played three seasons. He isn’t even close to the same type of prospect as maybin, they didn’t play the same position in college. I’m not saying Miller is the guy especially at #3 but comparing the two is a huge stretch
Didn’t even need to read the post. Miller is so much more developed than Maybin as a pass rusher and, most particularly, as a football player. Miller has experience setting up tackles with polished pass-rushing moves, not to mention dropping into coverage. Maybin had experience running around big, slow tackles.
I’m not advocating that the Bills take Miller, nor do I think I’ll ever get to that point. But Von Miller is much, much more pro-ready than Maybin, and will almost undoubtedly end up being the complete opposite of him in terms of production.

well if you watched this clip you would see him just try and run around tackles just like Maybin. You and everyone else said how Maybin needed time to develop and how much ability he had. Every player the Bills take everyone on this site always tries and justifies the pick, whether its a one year wonder who is totally undersized or the great kick returners we take in the top 15. By kick returners I mean Spiller and Mckelvin. It is horrible when you look back and see all the misses this team makes. There are about 5-8 corners better than Mckelvin that were taking way later then him. Spiller is what he is. A Reggie bush type player who may break a big play once in a while. Taking guys like Spiller last year justifies this team has no direction. And by direction I mean, no purpose. They spent their 9th pick on a really fast undersized kick returner who cannot block or even be patient enough to wait for a hole. Im sorry, but Peterson didn’t need to learn how to be patient or how to hit a hole when he was taken that high. and he was no glorified kick returner in college. My hopes are still high for Spiller b/c the guy does have speed but like every other player we pick, it ends up being a pointless pick. Especially when you had two starters in the backfield already. If they wanted a “playmaker” Dez Bryant should have been the guy. Thank God Stevie Johnson looks like he is decent if he can keep his mouth shut.
My point is everyone always tries and justifies our pick every year. I never understand the pick. It never makes any sense. You tried and justified the Maybin pick, the Spiller pick and many more. I mean if the Bills just listen to say a guy like Walter Football, or even half of our fans, they would have a lot better players. So when we take Miller, and he ends up trying to play patty cake with OT’s like Maybin does, I’ll love to hear your justification about how good Von Miller fits on this team. We need a guy that can stop the run and help this horrible run defense. So when we take him or some other schmeeb I can’t wait to hear your justification this time for why this guy is a great pick. Sorry to be so blunt, but I can’t stand this team making mistakes every year and listening to fans try and justify why it is a good pick when its not
They’re not going to take Miller, so I think you can turn your worries to other prospects. Like Blaine Gabbert.
