Luck = Brohm

Does anyone else think this is eerily similar to Brian Brohm's situation?

Brohm wins orange bowl. Luck wins orange bowl
Brohm was no.1 pick candidate. Luck is no. 1 candidate.

Brohm goes back to school. Luck goes back to school.

Brohm's coach Bobby Petrino leaves for NFL. Luck's coach Harbaugh just signed with 49ers.

Brohm goes on to have a so-so final year and he is where he is now. Will that happen to Luck?

I agree with you, but I feel like a lot of people would have said Brohm was going to be fine at the time too

Brohm was in a spread offense...

Luck runs a pro system and is amazing in it i dont see the comparisons

Brohm “is where he is” because of his inability to grasp a pro system. Luck, barring something catastrophic won’t have that problem.

although Bobby Petrino has tweaked it alitte bit since his louisville days with his QB under center alittle more and has installed more I formations to improve the running game since his Louisville days. What i think is his couple of months in the NFL has helped him add that to his offensive scheme

With the 3rd pick in the draft, the Bills select ?????..... a player who is destine to underperform or be a flat out BUST.

I wonder how Luck will do with a new head coach, if he have a down year like Locker did, will he still be the #1 pick when he does come out?
Also since Chan is committed to have Fitz start in 2011, it looks like they will wait one more year to address the QB position.

or maybe they will take a QB but wouldn’t feel the need to rush him into being the starter. As an old school guy, I really like that idea. The optimist in me says they take a QB….the pessimist says they take Maybin 2.0

I wonder too, I actually wonder if that is the Harbaugh plan? He heads to the NFL, so Luck now has a new HC, possible new system, loses 60% of his OL, and has a playcaller, that might not know how to playcall to Luck’s strengths, resulting in lesser results and a slide in the draft next year, where the 49ers might have a chance to draft Luck next year,

but i think the style and system luck splays in helps him to separate from brohm.

Good comparison

I just don’t see this happening.

Brohm wasn’t carrying the grade that Luck currently does. I don’t think Oakland would have taken Brohm first overall,but he could have been a top ten pick.

Luck’s going first overall unless a highly improbable series of things happen: Luck sustains a career ending injury, and another quarterback has a Cam Newton or Luck-esque 2011 season, the first couple teams in the draft order already have high first round QB’s, etc.
