Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that Nnamdi Asomugha's contract has voided, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Asomugha's contract contained a complicated clause that essentially voided the contract if the star cornerback failed to achieve certain incentives. The clause also does not allow the Raiders to slap him with the franchise tag. He'll enter free agency as the biggest name defensive player on the market.

Rumblers have been clamoring for better corner play. Well, looks like we'll have a chance to recruit the best cornerback in the country this off-season.

Just about the only non QB that I’d ever offer a 15M+ per year contract. Now I don’t expect us to sign him, but it would be nice if we at least knocked on his door with a truck full of money.

a true shutdown

like Asomugha would go a long way to finally beating Tom Brady!

i’m sure i’m going to regret this conversation… but what the hell - J2

You could give me 100:1 odds that he’ll be a Bill next season and I wouldn’t take it.

only

way I could see it happening is offering a monster contract.

i’m sure i’m going to regret this conversation… but what the hell - J2

Sure. But the Bills don’t exact do that. And other teams do. If the Bills are not the overwhelming best offer it’s a safe bet he’s signing elsewhere.

To be fair, that’s what people said about Nate CLements and the 49ers 5 years ago.

yea

I also assume he’ll go to a competitor as opposed to going for the money after getting paid like crazy in Oakland and losing there his whole career.

Imagine the Jets making a move for him? Asomugha and Revis on the same team would be so disgusting and Cromartie at nickle

It's a disgusting thing that could happen

If there’s no cap then teams like the Jets can afford to do offer monster contracts whenever they please. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the Jets go all out to get him

Did I mention the tank is a tank?

a no cap is so unfair

A CB in the NFL really makes $15m a year?

I imagine Elway and the Broncos are already on the case as far signing Asamugha.

We have better odds

we have better odds of drafting Luck this year

For my own personal sanity, I am officially banning myself from reading/saying anything about Cam Newton.... starting the day after the Bowl game until the start of the combine.

While I don't see it happening......

The Bills should at least be a serious player for his services. Not only do we attempt to better our team but we also show that we are willing to pay for top talent. I’d love it if we could pull a deal off but, as stated above, I don’t see it happening.
