After the win of Philly, the Bills are 4-1. To have a reasonable shot at the playoffs this year, they will need to finish at least 11-5. If Buffalo can go at least 7-4 over the next 11 games, they will be in playoff contention.
Here's the remainder of the Bills' schedule
Week 6: @ NYG
Week 7: Bye
Week 8: vs. Washington
Week 9: vs. NYJ
Week 10: @ Dallas
Week 11: @ Miami
Week 12: @NYJ
Week 13: vs. Tennessee
Week 14: @ San Diego
Week 15: vs. Miami
Week 16: vs. Denver
Week 17: @ New England
So how do we get 7 wins?
- 2 wins over Miami
- 1 win over NYJ/NE
- 2 wins over Dallas/NYG/Washington
-1 win over Denver/San Diego
-1 win over Tennessee
I can definitely see the Bills doing both better and worse than the 7-4 record I've laid out.
Some of the crucial games if Buffalo wants to make the playoffs:
They need to win twice against Miami. While Miami is not as bad as their 0-4 record would suggest, they are still bad. If we can't sweep both games, it will make things much harder.
Beat Tennessee. Right now the Titans are a surprising 3-2 and are one of the teams that the Bills might end up competing against in the Wild Card. The Bills play the Titans after a three game road stretch. The Bills will need to show up at home to stay in the race.
Stay competitive with out of conference games. Right now I don't think there is anyone in the NFC East or AFC West that the Bills can't beat. While it's probably unrealistic to expect them to win them all, going at least 3-2 would keep them on the right track.
I know this post is way premature, but I think looking at the season as a whole can help give perspective whenever the Bills win or lose. We shouldn't be trying to go undefeated, but making the playoffs has become a realistic goal.
