Thank you Marv !
Although I am probably your worse critic of your tenure as our GM from 2006/2007, I wish to thank you for being such a great person and honorable man. You made a promise to a very special undrafted running back that if ever you were in a position to give him a job you would. I want to thank you for keeping your word, Freddy Jackson has become a hero for many kids around the Buffalo area, he's a great person, a great competitor and a fantastic Buffalo Bill ! Chix, if you are reading this, remember that this guy MUST retire in a Bills uniform, you better make it happen!
I'll also give you honorable mentions for the Kyle Williams find in the 5th round. Meatball is another great person and hard working competitor that wears the Buffalo uniform well and makes us all proud each and every Sunday.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Never understood the criticism towards Marv
Yes he was brought in as a GM of the Buffalo Bills. Not for one second did he lobby for the job. It was nothing more than a favor to Owner Ralph Wilson. The fact that that era failed miserably may fall into his realm of responsibility but it should not be concluded that he was a failure due to the fact that he was never going to be their that long to begin with. Recently, he has become more notorious as a GM than he was as a coach and I always felt that was wrong.

you completely missed my point buddy
This was a sincere thank you note.
But given that you want to discuss his tenure a bit further… He was a horrible GM ! I understand the point you are trying to imply but I disagree completely. If it were just a favor then he should’ve simply kept the seat warm for a few years instead of dismantling the team we had and replacing by the bunch of crappy mediocre smallish players he brought in.
For the record I agree that his stint as our GM unfortunately takes away from his wonderful legacy as our head coach and it should not.

And you completely missed my point.
I recognize that Marv brought in Kyle and Freddy and both players have played like pure professionals even through those down years of 7-9 and 6-10 and last years 4-12. My point is that there shouldn’t be a need to thank him from anyone for bringing in these players. Especially ones that have criticized him at length for his efforts in the very short time he was brought in. Marv recognized that we needed an offensive line very badly and went out and bought one. He also recognized that we needed another option at Quarterback and went out and drafted one. He then went out and grabbed a Head Coach that he could trust to run the show as he stepped aside from his rebuild for Ralph and turned things over to Russ and Dick Jaroun. The rest is a history we all would like to forget. Yes some can blame Marv for this. I don’t and I may be in a minority, but I don’t care. Marv was the GM for the Bills in name only. He did the job for like two years and was gone. Why in the world should Marv spend his retirement, hall of fame life trying to rekindle a fire he had no control over. He was smart to get out and Jaroun wasn’t the answer.

Marv promissed Fred that if ever he found himself in a position to hire him that he would well before taking the GM role. The fact that he remembered his commitment and honored it is quite commendable and today we are quite lucky that he is such an honorable man.
So I believe that a thank you is indeed in order.

Prediction for 2011; 9-7 and a wild card ticket
Said it all!
Fred has always been a home favorite here -- thx for the history. I usually despise money talk about the Bills, usually turns into an epic fail. But Pay the man! Class Act.
