Bills vs. Giants Practice Report: Eight Bills Sit Wednesday
The Buffalo Bills took to the practice field today to begin installing a game plan for Sunday's game against the New York Giants. Unfortunately, they did so without eight players on the field, most notably defensive tackle Kyle Williams.
Williams, dealing with a foot injury that may prevent him from playing on Sunday, was joined on the sidelines by four other players dealing with longer-term injuries: wide receiver Donald Jones (high ankle sprain), left tackle Demetrius Bell (shoulder), outside linebacker Chris Kelsay (calf) and cornerback Aaron Williams (chest).
Meanwhile, left guard Andy Levitre, outside linebacker Shawne Merriman and safety Da'Norris Searcy also missed practice. The team has been resting Merriman during Wednesday practices most of this season, and Levitre is reportedly injured - but not so seriously that he couldn't lift weights today. No word yet on Searcy's ailment.
On the flip side, the Bills did get two injured players back for practice today: nose tackle Torell Troup (back) and inside linebacker Chris White (hamstring).

Man, losing Williams for this week would hurt. Hopefully this weeks resting will get him ready for Sunday. Troup back is a plus, but Id rather have Williams in there, even tho he hasnt really been himself this year, yet.
Did I hear correctly in Chans presser that Bell would be out again this week? This will probably be our #1 test of a pass rush. The Giants rotational front 4 is dominate.

Bell won’t play this week.

Losing a healthy Williams would hurt.
I’m not sure losing Williams right now would make a big difference; I barely notice him out there right now.
If Troup is ok to play then I will agree with you.
Spencer Johnson has played pretty well this season and him being the replacement starter at DE instead of OLB would work. Troup and Dareus can hopefully handle the NT snaps that Kyle plays.
I think I’d rather us sit him this week and give it to weeks to heal for the second half of the season.

It was great
seeing Spenser in last week, I really like him better than Edwards. When KW was out last week the rotation was interesting. Darius lined up at nose some and him and Heard (at least I think it was him) STUNTED. That along with the blitzes really helped the D keep Vick and his line off their game.

By the way I do realize SJ and
Edwards are on the field at the same time because he has been playing OLB, but I have always thought he was the better DE of the 2.

Spencer Johnson is playing outside linebacker – has been for several weeks – and gets a ton of playing time there spelling both Merriman and now Chris Kelsay. He’s not really available to play D-Line, too.

I figured Gailey’s propensity to move people around might provide some DT looks for Johnson here and there, along with Heard. I think we could see more of Carrington spelling Merriman and Moats rotating with Batten.
Regardless, I don’t think we are hurting for personnel should we have to move people around. I feel good about all our options, and its been a long time since I could say that and mean it.
Carrington has been pretty strictly D-Line. That switch happened after Week 1.

and...
….while I can speak for his overall body of work, Carrington seems to be active and has made some really solid tackles, a couple of tips (one turned into a INT, I think).

Still seems like we have a relatively light injury list compared to past seasons or other teams in the NFL. I also think we are making significant strides in adding overall depth to this team.
That being said I am still saddened by the loss of Easley and Parrish. We could have had an exceptional wide receiving core this year.
Ironic how...
We start the season with a (presumably) very deep WR core, then slowly lose a good portion of it to injury. Why does it always happen that way I wonder…
Injuries happen a lot in this league. The Bills have had, for the most part, a light go on the injury front so far, compared to much of the rest of the NFL.

I’m glad the Troop got healthy just in time when we need him.
Hoping for a good game from him.
