Near the end of the first half, Chan decides to test Fitzy and his depleted WR corps against an incoming Giants pass rush (instead of giving the ball to Freddie while eating up the clock). The result? A sack, and we're taken out of field goal contention.
Near the end of the second half, Chan gets cute with the spread instead of giving the ball to his best offensive weapon (Fred Jackson, while eating up the clock). The result? An interception, and were obviously taken out of any scoring contention. A field goal would have put us ahead at that point, if memory serves me correct.
Those six points would have been enough. Hell, even one FG could have been enough to tie the game until overtime. Those are the kind of sloppy decisions that you can't make as a head coach in a tight game like this.
I expect Fitz to throw one interception a game, even two. I don't expect Chan Gailey to gamble away the family car on a game of blackjack.
