Kyle Williams was a beast last year, at times almost single-handedly dominating opponent's offensive lines. I think it was the Pittsburgh game that he was basically unblockable. I've watched all the games so far this year and he's been there, but I can't remember many big plays from him.
We've known he's had a minor foot injury, but now it is sounding worse and worse, with 2 or 3 articles on the Bills official site about it being a nagging, season long injury, and one report I saw about it possibly being bone spurs that could require surgery. With his size, explosiveness is his game, and this injury has robbed him of it.
We all love Williams as a player, but it was kind of sad on Sunday to see Heard start and not notice much difference. Kyle was a deserving Pro Bowler, and quietly it looks like we may have "lost" him for the season just as much as if he was on IR. To me, this is the biggest under reported reason behind the Bills defensive struggles. Pressure from the defensive line can totally change the complexion of a defense.
Anybody heard anything else about the injury? Honestly, even if he needed to miss 4 to 6 weeks for some kind of surgery or intense rehab, I'd say go for it. Unfortunately with Troup also hurting all season, we are really thin at NT.
