Shawne Merriman has been the big story for the Buffalo Bills this week. On Tuesday, the Bills placed their best pass-rusher on Injured Reserve after a pre-existing Achilles injury flared up on him and didn't heal up as fast as it could. After Merriman sought out several different medical opinions, and decided on surgery.
Merriman has already had that surgery, tweeting on Wednesday evening that things went smoothly. He's now on the road to recovery.
Merriman has one year remaining on the two-year contract he signed with the team in January of this year. He's scheduled to make $4 million in base salary - $3 million of that is guaranteed - and will be due $1.25 million in roster bonuses, as well, if he's still with the team.
Our question for you today - now that we've all had a couple of days to digest the bad news and process everything - is this: is Merriman worth bringing back for a look next summer? Or should the Bills just cut bait, save themselves some money and move on?
