The Buffalo Bills used the No. 3 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft on Alabama defensive tackle Marcell Dareus. Their goal in making the pick was to complement stud defensive tackle Kyle Williams and, more importantly, to help shore up one of the league's worst run defenses.
With Williams sidelined indefinitely nursing a foot injury, however, Dareus made the move to nose tackle in yesterday's game against the Washington Redskins. Aided by a sieve-like Redskins offensive front, Dareus had a coming-out party, recording 2.5 sacks as the Bills blanked Washington 23-0.
As Williams continues to recover, Buffalo's defense is going to need more efforts like this one from Dareus. In one game facing heightened expectations, however, Dareus delivered in a big way. Let's see if he can keep it up heading into the teeth of Buffalo's schedule.
