Inside The Bills | Rayner’s 4 days with Cowboys

Inside The Bills | Stevie: We’ve got to play loose
"(We’ve got to) just let it go, go out there and have fun," he said. "We’ve been playing our game plan and we’ve been doing that, but I think we’ve kind of got out of being loose and having fun. We’ve been a more structured team. That’s what I feel like when we are on offense instead of going out there and being loose. I think sometimes we are more thinking about not making a mistake than just playing."

Inside The Bills | Gailey’s QB approach unchanged
"I learned a tremendous amount from him and I had an opportunity to start a few of the games when he was our head coach. I just remember him being someone that was so supportive of me being a guy in a backup role coming in to start and creating an environment for me where I could be successful and our team could be successful, among the many other really good things that he did. He provided a lot of structure and discipline for our team and was someone I learned a great deal from."

Inside The Bills | Bills ‘D’ mindful of big play
"We can’t give up big plays; we can’t give up explosive plays," Wilson told the NFL Network earlier this week. "They do a great job of having explosive games in the running game as well as the passing game, and now since [DeMarco] Murray has come on he’s really given them a great balanced attack and allowed them to play-action off of it."

Fitz faces his first true test as the face of the franchise.

The same line could have been used for all the games so far. Or not. Why wasn’t the NE game a true test? Or Raiders.

This statement is hyperbole. Each contest is a test, true or other adjective. After this game the following one will be another (true) test. As we get closer to play-off contention/elimination the games will magnify.

Might as well make this the headline to one article each week. It will still be true and save time researching.

When the job is finished no one remembers how long it took, just how well it was performed.

He’s referring to Fitz’s big contract making him the “face of the franchise”, hence why the NE or Raiders games don’t count. But you could certainly make a case that last week’s game against the division rival Jets with first place on the line would have been his “first true test”.

The contract is irrelevant in the scope of being tested. That’s just background noise. Fitz would be the starting QB regardless of contract extension or continuing without it. The game has the same meaning.

My point of emphasis is in labeling a game a true test. They all are in the NFL. For each player.

But you could certainly make a case that last week’s game against the division rival Jets with first place on the line would have been his "first true test".

Excellent point. The Buffalo News should hire you over the space-filler.
