Buffalo Bills At Dallas Cowboys GameThread - Second Half

The Buffalo Bills were scheduled to play a football game in Arlington, Texas against the Dallas Cowboys today. The defense hasn't shown up for that game yet, while the offense has made only a perfunctory appearance. Dallas leads the Bills 28-7 at the half, and the Bills are lucky it's that close.

Dallas has amassed 317 yards of total offense in the half, and have yet to punt the football. Tony Romo has carved the Bills up, completing 18-of-19 passes for 237 yards and three scores; Buffalo has put up no resistance whatsoever defending the pass. DeMarco Murray, meanwhile, has carried 11 times for 71 yards and a touchdown.

On the other side of the ball, Ryan Fitzpatrick is 10-of-14 passing, but has just 67 yards (and a short touchdown to David Nelson) on those completions. Fred Jackson has run the ball just four times (for 28 yards), Fitzpatrick has already been sacked once and hit routinely, and for the most part have been effectively bottled up.

Here's your thread for the second half. It can't get much uglier for this sad-sack version of the team we love. Right? Please?

seriously. how many times do we have to field a team that starts off fast and cant keep up mid season? how many times do we ask for real talent, not backups and reject coaches? i dont know how many, but chalk up one more year at least.

The 2011 Buffalo Bills - Not going 0-16 this year
Burgundy Wave - SBnation's home for the Colorado Rapids
Crystal Palace FC - Oh wait, we're winning games this year? That wasn't on the schedule until 2016!

We will do better than Miami next week, though. Hairston will be back. Bell may be back. The offense will execute next week… which is good. The D can’t get it done this time of the year. Maybe this year, even.

Boy Am I Glad...

I turned this off at 14-0!

From skimming the thread, looks like we’ll have a lot of bridge jumpers tomorrow! Call the Coast Guard!

Looks like the boys are having a hard time handling success, as Chan once commented. 2-4 since he asked that question…these are the Bills I was expecting this year! But can they make my 5-11 preseason prediction a reality? Unlikely. But possible!

Oh, and let me echo the bench Donald Jones cries. I’ve been wanting that since Day 1. I’m totally OK with them cutting him outright and installing Roosevelt in his place. What’s the difference? Other than NR is a local boy..

Makes you wonder, right?

Having Kyle and Marcel up front to deal with may have been what made the D passable. We need Shawne or Shawne’s replacement though for real.

I don't think it mattered

Our O is inept again and we were getting run on and passed on defensively. The turnovers were what really helped us, which he didn’t have a lot to do with, if at all….

So is Stevie Johnson going to get a big extension?

He’s having a rough season after the opening couple of games. This is going to be the 4th game out of 5 where he’s under 10 yards a catch, with very few plays outside of 20 yards all year. Is he worth a big deal, or is he just a solid WR that should be in the Steve Breaston neighborhood (5 for $25M)?

Fitz is not a franchise QB

I have been a huge supporter of him since he was the backup. I bought a navy blue Bills fitz jersey because I thought he was good. But he is not someone you can build around. You don’t make this many bad throws and expect to win anything. Draft a QB. I can’t believe I am saying this but draft a QB.

then we could just complain about horrible coaching and not all about having no talent on the team.

by JJS on Nov 13, 2011 3:56 PM EST reply actions

Okay, already thinking for next year.

1. More OL help. Maybe we can do better than Bell, even? Though he’s not the problem IMO.
2. Pass rush. Is for crap.
3. One more game that the D looks like this, and … new DC. Dave gets a shot running til the end of the year then they decide if they want to keep him or find someone else.
And 4. Deep threat that the opposing D will respect. DJ is not him.
