Question For San Diego Game
Planning to attend the game against San Diego with my family. Any advice on obtaining 3 tickets for the game, where to stay (do we know where the Bills and/or Bills Fans stay), whether Qualcomm-Chargers are safe for an 8 year old (crazy Bills fan) boy, other advice? Not too worried about costs -- a rare event to go see our beloved Bills and join the fans in SD. Sorry if this is not the place to ask this question -- somewhere else?
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

From what I’ve heard, SD’s stadium is pretty low-key compared to places like Arrowhead and Lambeau. Shouldn’t be too worried about crazy rowdy fans. Especially with the Chargers’ season seemingly slipping away, it should be a relatively neutral field for Bills fans to visit.
I know Buffalo Rumblings is connected to a site called TiqIQ (through the Tickets tab at the top of the page). They offer competitive prices to stubhub, so I’d check them too.

I got tickets off of Stubhub the last time we played there
Park away from the stadium, and take the tram/train into the stadium. It saved us so much time getting out of the parking lot.
Despite losing that game by nearly 4 touchdowns, there was a drunk guy that tried to pick a fight with me. Just like any other stadium, I suggest you avoid the rowdy folks. We have them at RWS as well…

Man stabbed at Raiders-Chargers game
Updated 4d 6h ago Comments 25 SAN DIEGO (AP) – A 25-year-old man was stabbed during a fight in the Qualcomm Stadium parking lot after the Oakland Raiders’ victory over the San Diego Chargers on Thursday night, police said.
But seriously, I have heard that it’s a pretty tame environment, and the article even says it didn’t have anything to do with the game

I actually live in San Diego and will also be going to that game. There’s an area in Fashion Valley which is like 2 miles from the stadium that’s called Hotel Circle, there are an array of hotels priced from low to high where you can stay. I would recommend parking your car in the Mission Valley area and taking the Trolley to the stadium. This is pretty standard every Sunday those Trolleys are packed with fans. I think you should be safe as long as you keep to yourself. Chargers fans really suck, but they can get rowdy.
On a side note, if San Diego had a new stadium I think it would be the best choice to host a super bowl.

I will be attending the game also. We will be headed there after a few days in Vegas. There is a Bills party pregame event being held with Andre Reed in their practice facility. Includes food and drinks. I think this is the way to go. Take a shuttle to and from and avoid parking fee’s and traffic. And get to mingle with some west coast Bills fans.
This should be a big game in the AFC Playoff race. And hopefully the Bills are in that race.

Thanks everyone for the great advice. For the Reed event, where would we go for that? Also, is there a specific hotel where Bills fans will stay?
As far as hotels, I’m not sure. Someone else is taking care of those arrangements. I think we plan on staying at one closer to the beach, as we will be there for a few days and want to take in San Diego. The SD backers have some hotel info on their page, but Im not sure if there is one that will be more Bills centric than others. – <http://www.sdbbc.org/billschargers2011/travelinfo.html

It looks like most people answered your questions, but I’ll give you another persons input. As far as tickets go, I would look on stubhub or the link Brian posted. I actually saw a really good deal for three tickets not to long ago, I’m not sure if it’s still available.
Being born and raised in San Diego, I can tell you that your family has nothing to worry about in terms of the game atmosphere and being in a safe place. I’m a huge Bills fan and have been to every game that they have had in San Diego, including one when i was around 10. Charger’s fans are hit or miss in terms of their dedication. The stabbing at the Chargers vs Raiders games is unfortunately really common. It happens all the time and I wouldn’t be caught dead going to one of those games. Raiders fans come to Qualcomm and take over. It is about 50/50 in terms of fans and they are all drunk and get in fights with only the stupid Charger fans who care to fight back. Chargers fans have no hatred for Bills fans, and if anything probably thank Buffalo we are the ones that helped them turn the corner from their 1-15 season back in the early 00’s. They also love to play the video clip of Kevin Costner shooting a buffalo from Dances with Wolves.
As far as places to stay, it depends on how much you are willing to pay and what you want close to your hotel. There are so many different hotels all over the city that are great. You can stay in downtown and take the trolley to the stadium. You can stay at the Hilton in Mission Bay, which has a great location and view. Or like someone posted earlier you can stay in Mission Valley, but I don’t feel like there is a lot to do around that area if you want more than just a place to stay.
Those are my opinions, feel free to ask any questions. I’m happy to answer them.

Thanks! Great info. Really appreciate it. Too bad my son (crazy Bills fan at 8 yrs old) can’t participate in some of this, but nice to know there are a few bills backers groups organizing things in San Diego. Hotel suggestions are great!
