Few thoughts, trying to stay positive!

Just really wondering why we have Brad Smith returning kicks?  No doubt that he is a very physically talented player, but I feel like we have a few other better options on the team.  Spiller for one, he's one of the fastest players on the field at anytime, and he has shown flashes when he has the ball.  Another option would be go back to McKelvin.  We all know he can be dynamic returning, minus a few hiccups in the past.  Finally one of the best returners I've ever seen in a Bills uniform...McGee! The speed might not be the same but he has a vision for holes, I know it's been a few years, but better than Smith.

Also on the topic of Brad Smith, if we are going to use him...use him! Don't bring him out a few times a game for a one yard run, leave those runs for the most talented player on our team Freddy....let Smith throw the ball once in a while!!! He has a good arm, and people need to respect his running ability, and his passing ability!

As far as our receivers go I feel like for a bunch of high round/ undrafted guys they have played well...Stevie is Stevie, even though he has been a bit banged up as of late.  David Nelson is a true diamond in the rough, and with Roosevelt you get what you get. He is very young, and very raw.  Donald Jones how ever has not played well at all IMO.  You are taught as a receiver if it hits your hands, you catch it!! He has had way too many go through his hands and into the other teams.  We have no down field threat on this roster, time to bring in a practice squad guy and see what he can do...it's what we've done with most of our other receives why not try it again.

With our defense the loss of Merriman really did hurt us...his stats weren't great but at the time we were causing turnovers left and right he was forcing the opposing QB to be uncomfortable and make bad throws.  He was defending the run well and being a good leader on the defense.  He needs to be back next year.  Having Kyle Williams will help as well, but Merriman was generating a much better pass rush than we have right now.

I don't even know what we could possibly do with the O-line besides ride it out and draft draft draft next year...can't do much when 3-4 guys are out of the game.  Bell is injured far too often, even though I think he is a good player, he needs to go...we also need to think about replacing Wood. Fantastic player, just injured too much.  Levitre needs to stay at LG, its great that he can really be a solid, consitant, and extremely durable player,  he just isn't a LT or a C..pay the man and keep him a Bills, just keep him at LG.

This is a rough patch right now fellow fans, but its not of the norm in Buffalo...lets just get some players healthy and enjoy the rest of the season as best as possible.  Chan is a smart coach...I feel he will right the ship (some) as soon as he has some more of the starters back.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.
