Happy Turkey Day People

Ahhh Turkey Day - sorry for all you folks out of the country (CBF where are you?????) - but this is one of my favorite holidays.  Save for Columbus day because Chris obviously found the United States and no one was here or came here before (Aliens ?!?!? ;)  ) - but I digress.

I thought it would be fun to do a post to tell everyone what everyone is doing and any other random non-Bills related stuff is happening for your Turkey Day.

Star-divide

I will be hosting my first ever Thanksgiving - I have a whopping 19 people coming over to my house in which I will attempt to help cook for.  Chances are i'm going to end up playing Batman with my Nephew while my wife bitches at me for not helping but i'll tell her i'll clean up and run 4 dishwasher loads and be done with it - but that's life right?  Then i'll sit down with some sort of alcoholic beverage and watch football and sleep then wake up at some point eat some more and fall asleep again.  Basically a routine family holiday and I couldn't be more excited about it.

So what about you Rumblerererer's?   Traveling? Hosting?  Bar scening it up tonight?

Share away so we can get out of the mundane crappy Bills conversations for once!

my little contribution to thanksgiving was to help an american student ( he’s learning french and he gives english lessons in school) to find a turkey in my city.i won’t watch games because the bills don’t play and i need to sleep at night.i will just follow the packers game

Heading to Buffalo tomorrow morning for Thanksgiving dinner at the families house.

And then Dave and Busters at night for the Ravens-9ers game. I think theyll be open, they were 2 years ago anyways.

Probably lions vs packers. I have just one thing to nit pick. Columbus did not discover the americas first. Official credit goes to vikings who had been all the way out to oklahoma area before columbus was ever born.

Cut the crap....

American was discovered/conquered by European countries……the winner get to write the history.

Yah thats why america has given official credit for discovering america to a nordic viking named leif ericson I believe. Plus the vikings where european so whats the point. Plus no need to be an ass.

I visited Mexico...but never conquered it...big difference

And you’re right….you unfairly got the brunt of my ire. But, this PC crap drives me nuts. In our culture, meaning the founding fathers of this country, Columbus discovered America and Thanksgiving (not fing Turkey Day) is a holiday giving thanks TO GOD from the blessing we have received. I could go on, but I will end my rant here.

Just so you know my statement has nothing to do with being politically correct. I am into history and knowing the correct history. If we want to talk that way about never conquering it columbus did not either and if I was trying to be politically correct it would be about how he discovered the carribean and never found the americas. Plus like I said america who conquered the contintent gave official credit to leif erikson for finding it. So the conquerers have written that columbus did not find it first by your standards thats what counts.

Happy Thanksgiving Brother!!! ...

and I’m with you totally on the Blessings and giving thanks to God part!!!

It’s sad however, that you felt you had to make that post a “rant”…. A day that was meant to be an end to harvest time; a day to thank the Lord for such bounty, and the Blessings bestowed, has become a mere “turkey day”, the day before black Friday, and the beginning of the mess that has become the “holiday” shopping season…

It’s time to give thanks folks… Feel free to disagree, and go “shopping”…

Optimistic??? Of course I am!! I'm a Bills fan, and as of right now, we are undefeated on the regular season!!!
Things are truly looking up!!!

Happy Thanksgiving Brother...and you're right

today is a day for giving thanks, not for focusing the the problems. I think it was a combination several different issues that sent me over the edge……I really did try not to go off to badly…….I will keep working on it.

That’s something to be wary of, not embrace.

by jj24 on Nov 24, 2011 11:20 AM EST up reply actions

Who said anything about embracing it?

it is a fact of life….has happened throughout history and still is happening today. The rewriting of history is not about accuracy. It is about the culture war. But since this is not a political blog, I will not elaborate.

Some of the “founding fathers” were slave owners and/or permitted slavery. Apparently, they provided the basis for Joe’s argument.

Point is: They weren’t right about everything.

again, can't agree more....
The rewriting of history is not about accuracy.

Break the word itself down…

History…. “His” + “Story”….

the winner, or some idiot years later, writes the “History” by revision of chronological events that occurred, more often than not, ignoring the very writings of the times in their own interpretation of those events…

Good luck with dinner dude

I will be traveling up the street to my mother’s… having dinner. Walking across the street to hang with the Wilson fam… and then… To dinner w Dad and Gram and the fam. So, it will be football, food, and family, multiple times for me too. I can’t wait! Columbus totally found America, because dudes named Chris are awesome, and nothing in history has ever been inaccurate. Happens just like they say it did. AAAAANnnnnnnddd… Aliens aren’t even real. Couldn’t be. I mean, how silly. There probably isn’t enough room or like, scenarios in the universe that we just have to be unique. Also, we built the pyramids by rolling impossibly heavy rocks on the trees we cut down ( oh yea, uh, what trees? ) after we pulled the giant-ass blocks up outta the sand from bedrock.. with handmade ropes and more people than lived in the area, in like 2 decades, without machines. Talk about a digression…… hahaha.

Going to see Mom today.

And drink Guinness and eat Turkey and hopefully enjoy some good football.

If the Bills had kept it up we could be thankful for that but can’t.

What we all should be thankful though is we have nice roofs over our heads and turkey and other foods on the table, cars in the driveway, and other nice things.

I have watched some shows in the last few days that make me realize just how lucky we who congregate here are.

One was a documentary about the slums of Mumbai, where people live in hovels and pick through trash just to feed their families.

Another was called the worlds most dangerous places and was about Bengal, where people are killed by tigers and are sent to prison if they kill the tiger who is attacking them because they are protected. They risk their lives to go fishing and live in straw shacks.

We are so lucky to have what we have, and not have been born in one of these place, so be grateful for what you have, because even though you may not what you have, you could be in a whole lot worse shape.
A third was about third world mountain people who live in just crazy conditions like having to hunt fox’s with Eagles in Mongolia, or chase off baboons with their kids from eating their crops in Africa.

So be thankful for what you have and help those less fortunate than you. That’s what Thanksgiving is all about.

Just Turkey with Wifey and daughter.

Didn’t travel anywhere this year because of work, so its just us.
Football, food, football, food, and beer.

I’m thankful for all of my family. And friends.
I’m thankful for having lived a very unique life so far. Thankful I have a job.
I guess that’s all there is.
