As the week leads us towards the big game this sunday against the jets, in all the positivity around everywhere, a scary fact is getting buried. Rex Ryan is Fitz's ultimate kryptonite, his arch nemesis.
I went and looked at Fitz's game logs in nfl.com in all of his 6 years so far. The first time he faced Rex was in 2008 as a bengal when Rex was Baltimore's defensive coordinator.
After that Fitz has played against Rex 3 times when Rex moved to the jets. twice in 2009 and once in 2010.
His record in all 4 games are quite consistent - consistently aweful.

Fitz has never topped 44.4% in completion against Rex. That's gut wrenching. What's more, if you look at Fitz game logs, he has always been consistently in the high 50% and 60%s in completion. But every year, the games against rex screws his completion % completely.
Then look at the average. He has never topped 4.7 yds/attempt !! For you guys, I have averaged the 4 games. On average he completes 41% at 4.4 average with 1 TD and 1 INT. His only defense against Rex is he takes off a lot to avoid the pressure at a healthy average of 7.0.
Again, if you look at his game logs no other coach or D-coord has confounded fitz to this extent with this regularity.
For a franchise qb, I think now is the time to prove that with his alleged smartness, he should figure Rex out on his 5th attempt.
Positivists will say this is a different year and history doesnt matter. I sure hope so too. But Fitz has yet to beat a good defense.
