Not as Bad as It Looked

Well that game stank worse than Rex Ryan doing cardio. But when you look at the numbers, it wasn't nearly as bad as it looked. It was also wayyy better than our previous outings against the Jets. If some key plays/flags had gone our way, it would have been much closer. Here, look:

1. The Bills fought the battle of the trenches to a draw. I know it didn't look that way, but consider the numbers. We averaged 4.4 yards per rush, running 22 times for 96 yards. The Jets tallied 126 yards on the ground, but averaged only a meager 3.2 per rush. No Jets run went for more than 10 yards. That is a huge improvement for us. I credit a decent game from Dareus against Mangold, and the usual good safety play in run support.

2. We did start to move the ball in the second half. Fitz was 4-12 for 24 yards and 2 INT's in the 1st half. He then went 11-19 for 167, 1 TD and 0 INT's in the second half. I don't think that was the Jets sitting on a lead. I think Fitz was starting to figure things out and find his rhythm. This is at least one bright sign heading into 2 more Ryan defenses in the next 3 weeks.

So yeah, we got beat. But we did not get dominated. And we showed signs of life towards the end. I wouldn't count us out for the rematch on Nov 27 just yet.
