What?

He caused pressures, he was in the backfield getting close to Fitz only one or both of his INTs, nothing wrong with that.

It is true. Fitz threw INT’s, and Aaron Maybin was in the same zip code being dominated by our 3rd string left tackle. Therefore the mainstream media is dumb.

I was a little harsh

but just about everytime ive posted regarding maybin (none of which has been trolling) you usually make some snide remark like “he’s just a bitter bills fan” or something similar rather than actually respond to the comments.

by NordicBillsfan on Nov 9, 2011 10:20 AM EST up reply actions

If I personally did

I may have added that to it, but I do think that any person who tries again on a second team, deserves a second chance for a new scheme and role. But when you give up as a player, then I give the green light for universal bashing. Gholston for example, bitched out the Jets, then got shut up and booted from the Bears. Maybin may have failed the Bills, but he never looked ever like he took off plays even then when I watched him

The bottom line is the stat sheet

Just as he did playing for us, Maybin registered a solid 0 across the board in tackles, passes defensed, and sacks. Buffalo 6th round pick Chris White also happened to get 0 tackles, passes defensed, and sacks in this past game. You don’t see people proclaiming the beat down he gave to the Jets.
Biased writing plain and simple.
Before you claim that Maybin made an impact not felt on the stat sheet due to his pressures, I’d argue that again, Chris White made about the same impact on his special teams tackles. There was no reason for an article like this to be written.
The Jets won today based on some excellent defensive scheming and winning the field position battle. Aaron Maybin had no impact on the outcome of this game.

He would have had a sack if Levitre didn’t grab him. I’ll take the holding call.

by MattRichWarren on Nov 7, 2011 8:55 AM EST up reply actions

your repetition almost appears like you know maybin was good and you dont want to believe it…

i have accepted that rex has indeed made maybin useful… we knew his only strength is his speed but we took it as an excuse to not use him… he was visibly fast and giving trouble to levitre….

why is it that you praise levitre when he does well against orakpo but you call him a 3rd string when he struggles against maybin? that’s classic denial… maybin was good

by statcruncher on Nov 7, 2011 2:31 PM EST up reply actions

sorry, the last para was a reply for manchuasen… he said levitre is our 3rd string LT…

the point is our management whiffed big time on maybin… and we should hold them accountable…

maybin shows our defensive coaches lack creativity, man management skills, scheming skills and pulling down our entire team… and wanndstedt has brought nothing to this team yet if he can bring anything at all

by statcruncher on Nov 7, 2011 2:35 PM EST up reply actions

I disagree. They did not “whiff” on Aaron Maybin. He has speed. Okay we know that. We saw that when he was here. He plays hard. Okay. We did the same thing here. Did he ever make plays for us?? No. He was given a opportunity to show that he could make plays and help the team and he didn’t. What did he do during training camp and the in the preseason game against the Bears? Do you think that Aaron Maybin is gone?? Hardly. And I would like a breakdown of these plays before I start giving Maybin credit. Announcers, and other members of the media, sometimes credit people for things that they really didn’t do. For example. In the Giants game, Phil Simms and Jim Nantz said that the protection broke down on one play and that the defensive line was starting to pressure Fitz. Errr. Wrong. If you replay it, you can clearly see that the LG, C, and RG were blocking down. And Corey McIntyre came out of the backfield and went to the left of the LG and helped him out. It was a running play but if you listen to the announcers, the “Giants pass rush is starting to cause problems”.

by AP22 on Nov 7, 2011 9:17 PM EST up reply actions

It was the play where Fitz looked like he was being pressured and had to scramble to the line of scrimmage.

by AP22 on Nov 7, 2011 9:18 PM EST up reply actions

Rex Ryan schemes so well he the Jets backup RB almost got a sack.

I credit 95% of Maybin’s production to Ryan. Running really fast whilst wildly flailing your arms doesn’t get you sacks and that’s why Maybin never succeeded here.

"You watch film on them and they’re very aggressive and send guys from all different directions," said Nelson in reference to the Jets’ blitz scheme. "Usually when they send guys, they send them and there’s usually not a whole lot of faking blitz and dropping back and that was something different than we had seen. In the first half we didn’t know what to expect and when they did that it was kind of surprising to us obviously with the two picks. They changed that up. They came out with a great game plan."

by AP22 on Nov 9, 2011 3:27 PM EST up reply actions

Is the reason any article at GGN doesn’t get more than 30 comments because you Jets fans are always on other teams blogs?

He did nothing in the game to warrant any kind of article about his impact. Yeah, he kind of got some pressure on Fitz on one of his picks, but that was hardly the reason Fitz threw the pick. In my opinion it was well disguised coverage by the Jets and a poor read by Fitz. I dont feel the need to be negative towards Maybin, but Im getting sick the media and Jets fans trumpeting this pick up like Rex found a new world beater. Rex has obviously found a way to find some inklings of success for Maybin and this has been discussed more than enough. The bottom line is that Maybin is a one trick pony whose trick isnt that great, and Rex and Co. have found a way to kind of, almost, capitalize on it…a little bit.

No mention of Wood's pancake of Maybin on the first play?

Best thing that happened all game

There shouldn’t he an “of” in the first part of that sentence.

It was away from the play..

So I dont know if you could have seen it on tv. However it looked to me like he hunted him down just to pancake him…. too bad it was mostly down hill from there.

OOPS. Wrong post.

by AP22 on Nov 9, 2011 3:27 PM EST up reply actions

Puleeeezzz!

Maybin is very quick off the snap, but that’s where it ends. He does not have enough strength or coordination for this high of a draft pick.
Anyone thinkin Rex was so well prepared because he plucked Maybin and Shawn Nelson brains? Just a thought.

by PayUrBills on Nov 7, 2011 10:15 PM EST reply actions

In Maybin’s case that would be some thin pluckin

by Munchausen on Nov 7, 2011 10:44 PM EST up reply actions

I think they were more prepared because of the bye week. Also, this was a must-win for them. I wish the Bills had treated it as a must-win too. I think playing against the Redskins made the Bills soft. I’m hoping this game woke them up and that they come out like gangbusters next week!

by mxsd on Nov 8, 2011 2:56 PM EST up reply actions

I think this is another aspect (like road games) in which the Bills are simply showing their lack of maturity as a team (I’m not calling them immature in the sense of juvenile but in the sense of lack of experience).

They have been able to get psyched up for games after losses because now they hate losing (different from the last 4 years for sure – no more losing culture! This is a huge step in the right direction). But the ability to bottle up that aggressiveness in preparation and keep it every week takes experience and discipline. I think this will come with time, but I don’t know how much falls on the coaches’ shoulders too.

The Bills will probably start doing significantly better once we’re able to kick Levitre back inside – even if it’s only Hairston playing at LT instead of Bell.

I didn’t see the Jets game. Do you really think that’s the main issue?
