OL Chris Hairston is looking ready to roll at left tackle this week.
Hairston is working during the individual position portion of practice as the starting left tackle. Its the position he manned after Demetrius Bell went down with a shoulder injury in Week 4.
Hairston has not played in the last two games for the Bills due to a high ankle sprain suffered in Week 6 against the Giants.

Let’s see what he’s got. That is going to be a big test on Sunday.

This Bell shoulder injury is becoming mighty mysterious.

I have low expectations. But high hopes.

i was thinking this myself

if we know he is going to be out long term, why not put him on IR and add another player for depth, so that if we do have a chance at a playoff push, Levitre and/or Hairston going down (again?) won’t hinder our chance to remain competitive.

if we know he is going to be out long term…

They didn’t, apparently.

that is one assumption that could be made.

but Chan had already commented that he indeed was taking longer than expected. it seems there is some point, where he isn’t being depth, he isn’t well enough to start, and we are stretching the line thin at a point when we need them the most. No sir, I don’t like it. i think that we should consider the relative cost of keeping him for 3-5 more weeks before deciding, he just isn’t going to go again this year. Perhaps it is a “medium” grade injury and they are being overly cautious, which seems like their usual method, but again, i wish that we had at least one more viable OT in case. God forbid something happen to urbik or rinehart and hairston not be able to go…. etc etc. i realize brown and young… but geez. can’t say there is some answer available out there either… so, just rough, i guess.

It is nice to see that our Tackle depth has improved significantly from where we were in the preseason

This was a big concern going into the new season on whether we had any talent at OT because Bell was being benched and Levitre was being shifted around. Giving Levitre time there probably helped him fill in during the past few games when forced to play the position.

We need Hairston and Bell back as soon as possible though because it is a long season, and we need as many healthy players as we can get. Hairston has really stepped up for a rookie and shown the game is not too quick or big for him. Wang on the other hand didn’t ever get to this level.

Hairstone, Pears and Bell will battle it out next year in training camp for the starting spots. Chances are though like this year… we’ll need all three!

this is huge

Hairston looked very good for a 4th round rookie and he and Levitre out makes us a better team when they are where they are supposed to be.

Yes!

You know, pass protection was not bad the past couple of weeks with Levitre at guard.

But Levitre is so effective as a pulling guard on run plays. It’d be great to have him doing that stuff again.

I agree

and heres the interesting part with Levitre moving out to LT the last couple of weeks. Pass pro didnt miss a beat but our RUN BLOCKING saw a tremendous dip in my opinion. Levitre clearly is a fantastic player wherever we put him but having him back inside with big Hairy back at LT makes us much more physical in the run game.
