Bills vs. Titans Injury Update: Rian Lindell Out Another Week
Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey spoke briefly with reporters after practice on Thursday, and updated the injury status of four players pertaining to this Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans.
George Wilson missed a second straight day of practice, and Gailey did not sound optimistic about the strong safety's chances of suiting up this weekend. Wilson has missed the past two starts with a stinger that he suffered in Week 9.
The news is slightly better for kicker Rian Lindell, who has been kicking without issue at practice, but will likely miss one more game while the team waits for his injured shoulder to be healthy enough to occasionally tackle return men on kickoffs.
Finally, Leodis McKelvin returned to the practice field today after missing Wednesday's session. Gailey expressed optimism that McKelvin will be available Sunday, and did the same for receiver Naaman Roosevelt, who practiced for a second straight day after missing all of last week.

What do you think’s gonna happen to Rayner? other than the botched kick off, he’ beeb pretty good. He’s got a good leg. Can we keep him for kick offs?

He will be a starter kicker next year for somebody. Dude’s got a hammer for a leg.

I kind of doubt that
Dude’s been terrible over his career. His success rate is 73% on FG’s, which would be right near the bottom of the NFL this year, and basically every year.

Man damn the shoulder
Get back to kicking and if someone starts to break on a kickoff return do a slide tackle! I know he played soccer…
Dave Rayner with slight edge with me!
Dave or Ryan, hard choice!

I like Rayner in regards to long kicks.
Lindell is obviously an incredibly accurate kicker, in short distance. I have seen Gailey punting and even going for it when we could be kicking a 45+ yarder though. Is that because he is so conservative, or because Lindell can’t make that kick? Personally, friends and I joke that he is 50/50 past 40. That isn’t EXACTLY accurate, I know, and statistically, he is comparable to most other kickers. I just feel, given that we play in wind and weather not only home, but regularly against division opponents, that we need a guy with a “booming’” leg.

Does anyone else love McKelvin on special teams
Leo really looked good out there as a gunner on punts, and just in general in special teams play.
His athletic ability has always been unquestioned, and he’s developed into a fairly good tackler – it’s been a lack of focus that’s killed him.
But on special teams plays he doesn’t have to read WR routes or think about coverage responsibilities: he can just play the ball and let his natural gifts take over.
I’d like to see him stay on the team as a special teams standout and occasional package corner. Maybe not what he was drafted for, but if he’s good at it, keep him in there!
