Buffalo Bills At San Diego Chargers GameThread

Buffalo Bills at San Diego Chargers, Dec 11, 2011 4:15 PM EST

Bills inactives: WR Kamar Aiken (scratch), TE Scott Chandler (ankle), TE Fendi Onobun (scratch), OT Sam Young (scratch), OLB Antonio Coleman (scratch), CB Aaron Williams (knee), FS Joshua Nesbitt (scratch)

The last time the Buffalo Bills won a football game, we were a day away from celebrating Halloween. The Bills haven't won since October 30, and they ride their five-game losing streak across the country today to take on the similarly-reeling San Diego Chargers.

San Diego has had a season much like Buffalo. They started the year 4-1, then lost six straight games before getting a much-needed victory over a hapless Jacksonville team on Monday Night Football earlier this week. Make no mistake: this is very much a matchup between two highly disappointing football teams. Sounds fun!

This is your open thread to discuss today's game. Enjoy yourselves, folks. GO BILLS!

Da'Jon McKnight - WR (Minnesota) - 6'3'' 211Lbs. (5th Round)

Courtney Upshaw - Alabama - the answer at OLB

Both can be gotten, whether Vinny Curry falls to the 2nd or we trade up in the last 1/3 of the 1st Round. Snagging one or both will help our defense immensely.

"The Buffalo Bills have just exploded all over the Cincinnati Bangles"
-Steve Tasker-

by billsoferie on Dec 11, 2011 4:40 PM EST reply actions

Let’s say your time is worth “X” amount.
And let’s say the value of watching the Bills is “Y” amount.

For pricing purposes, in Economics the point of efficiency is the intersection of Supply and Demand.

For this equation I shall add a third variable, which shall be defined as “Z”, and shall be alcohol.

So, to reach the theoretical point of pricing efficiency of your time,
X+Z=Y.

My suggestion, subsidize a lot of Z to balance out X and Y.

by Buffalo for Eternity on Dec 11, 2011 4:48 PM EST up reply actions

If Z = Beer

and the average alcohol content of Beer equals around 5.5%

Then Z^2 should equal a beverage centering around 30.25% alcohol.

I’d recommend Z^2 to make up for the lost efficiency of Z. In the spirit of the season, I’d label Z^2 as moderately strong Peppermint Schnapps.

Da'Jon McKnight - WR (Minnesota) - 6'3'' 211Lbs. (5th Round)

So, the game plan for San Diego is to just throw over the middle to someone (usually Gates) about 5 yards beyond the line of scrimmage and then run for the first down over and over and over….

It should make for a pretty fast moving game—long, time consuming drives for the Chargers and lots of three and outs for Buffalo

Look. RG3 is a cool idea for the team and doing great in college. He likely won’t come out early and there is good reason to be skeptical of QBs that win the Heisman. It rewards players who put up extraordinary numbers but who might not flourish in a professional setting. There are exceptions but they are few and far between. Flutie is one, but wasn’t until he did time up in Canada. Newton is another, but who in the world saw the type of QB he already is as a mid-season rookie? He was labeled a bust before the paint was dry on his Heisman paperwork.

why are we the only team that consistently runs for 15 carries or less each week. Understanding that a deficit dictates a different approach and that spiller was not being particularly effective in the first quarter, we still need some balance. Look at the eagles (5-8 as they may be) and lesean mccoy getting 23 carries for 37 yards today

It's not a bandwagon

It is an appreciation of a player who has a will to win and wills his team right along with him. You cannot teach that. Now, while you are wallowing in your Bills misery and feeling horrible about everything, remember this: Tebow has won 5 games in a row, possibly 6 with a win today. The Bills have lost 6 in a row. Whose wagon would you rather be on?

last year, there were plenty of us who knew, he was the type of player that was willing to run through a brick wall for his teamates… Now as we watch the Broncos, we see that the team is also willing to run through a brick wall for him as well….

Optimistic??? Of course I am!! I'm a Bills fan, and as of right now, we are undefeated on the regular season!!!

all these people who talk draft let me ask you

troup-fail
spiller- average
Sheppard-fail
searcy-average at best
all these draft picks including mckelvin, corner all a joke so the draft doesnt bring hope.

by hurdle28 on Dec 11, 2011 7:06 PM EST reply actions

Why should we waste our time trying to convince you about the draft when

A) You throw McKelvin and Corner in the same pile as the new GMs picks
and
B) You already are analyzing a draft’s success 1.75 seasons after inception.

Da'Jon McKnight - WR (Minnesota) - 6'3'' 211Lbs. (5th Round)

Courtney Upshaw - Alabama - the answer at OLB
Vinny Curry - Marshall - the other answer at OLB.

Both can be gotten, whether Vinny Curry falls to the 2nd or we trade up in the last 1/3 of the 1st Round. Snagging one or both will help our defense immensely.

and your point has no sound reasoning behind it so it’s worthless to even give two $#%#s about.

exactly this. you’re already grading a draft 1.25 years early. there’s no point to even bother listening.

By calling Spiller average you just bumped him up by about 6,000 points over his reputation on this board 3 weeks ago.
