As the Bills stumble toward the close of another season with no prospect of making the playoffs, I can't help but think back to the comments of many rumblers at the beginning of the season regarding Fitzpatrick. While I have never been much of a supporter of his, many optimists pointed to the fact that he wasn't the starter at the onset of last season and now that he had some time in the system, he'd worked with his WR's, he knew he would be the starter (as if that should make any difference at all) and was a smart Harvard guy who clicked with Gailey, he would be totally fine... Here are last season's numbers (13 games) vs this season's numbers through 13 games - where is the big improvement?
W-L % Yds Yds/Att TD INT Rtg
2010 4-9 57.8 3000 6.80 23 15 81.8
2011 5-8 61.9 3013 6.71 20 16 81.6
He has shown virtually no improvement whatsoever and there is nothing that leads me to believe he'll ever be better than he is right now. The Bills must do what it takes to get a franchise QB under center or the next ten years will feel a lot like the last ten.
