This is more of a question/debate provoking post than anything else, but why did we let Lynch go again? Why did we draft Spiller?
I know Spiller was the best choice available at that spot and that is Nix's thing, I also know what Lynch was creating a negative image for himself in Buffalo, etc. However, I have been looking at Lynch's highlights over the past few weeks and I just keep saying to myself; "Why did we draft a possible great running back in rd. 1, only to get rid of a proven great running back, with a serviceable player (now great) next in line in Freddy J?" I don't understand that logic.
I am no great football mind and I'm quite aware that Nix/Gaily know more than I do but with all the needs the Bills have, and already having two great backs (albeit that we didn't see the greatness of Freddy at the time, but was still a great back). To me, this just ties in with why we have not fielded a playoff team for a while now, draft decisions.
When I first heard of the Spiller pick, my immediate thought to myself was; "That's like New England taking Colt McCoy with a No. 9 pick", you just don't do it if you have Tom Brady. (The comparison might be a bit of a stretch, but you see where I'm going).
Sorry for the rant but I am drinking my morning cup of coffee on a chilly Saturday morning, watching my NFL Live and watching lynch highlight after highlight and my wife doesn't understand why I'm sulking so I figured I'd bring the conversation to the best blog in sports!
What are your thoughts on getting rid of Lynch/Spiller Draft, etc.? I know we beat this to death a year ago but I haven't heard much about it since.........
