RG3 to Browns, Miami or Skins!

With all of the posts about getting a QB next year, especially RG3, I figured that I would look at a mock draft that is out so far, based upon where the Bills will pick. I am still in favor of drafting defense in the first round, but I have to admit that it would be hard to pass on RG3 if he is still there. With the Browns drafting ahead of the Bills, though, I doubt that they will let RG3 go and keep Colt McCoy as their QB. For those Fitz doubters out there, McCoy has played a lot worse than the "QB standing at the corner with a cardboard sign".

It looks like the top-5 draft picks taken off the board for next year are as follows:

Andrew Luck to Colts

Matt Kalil to the Rams

Claiborne to Minnesota

Justin Blackmon to the Jags

RG3 to the Browns - Could be Trent Richardson.

Mock drafts have the Bills drafting 10th, with the following pick being Quinton Coples, DE, UNC, or Courtney Upshaw, OLB, Alabama.

** Of course, these are mock drafts and anything could change, but I doubt that the Bills will have a chance at even drafting RG3, since Miami, Browns and Redskins all need a game changing QB.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Has RGIII

Commited to the draft yet? Because I thought there might have been some talk about him going back to school.

Griffin has not declared. He has stated that he will announce his decision sometime after his team’s bowl game.

He is expected to declare.

But so was Berkley from USC and he decided to stay so nothing is for certain.

No you said that he'd announce his decision after his bowl game.

I linked that to it not being a guarantee. IE look at Berkley. I added to your point. One of the many reasons the reply button exists.

I'm still lost.

Me:

Griffin has not declared. He has stated that he will announce his decision sometime after his team’s bowl game.

That means he will announce his decision to remain in school or declare for the draft.
It is certain that he will announce his decision, but which decision I never said nor implied.

You:

He is expected to declare.
But so was Berkley from USC and he decided to stay so nothing is for certain.

You said he may or may not declare.

They seem the same to me.

Maybe our interpretations are based by differences in US & Canadian English? Possibly you inferred that I originally only meant that he would announce that he was entering the draft. I have been commenting on multiple sites that Griffin has not announced his decision yet.

One of the many reasons the reply button exists.

OK then. Since both our original comments are essentially the same it seemed redundant mentioning it a second time. But no harm, all is good.

BTW Berkley is a city in California, Barkley is the QB at Univ of Southern California. I’m not adding this to be a jerk or a “Spelling Nazi”. You have good things to say in your posts and people will think less of your comments if players names are misspelled.

Question

Is a RG3 a new drug? :)

If you didn't like my last post wait till you read the next! :) Until we draft/acquire franchise QB we'll be setting records for losing soon!

I think the drug is that he throws the deep ball with deadly accuracy like Dan Marino, but has the mobility of Steve Young. So it has mad bombs dancing in everyone’s heads right now. But no Junior can declare until they play there final game of the season. If they declare before then, they wouldn’t be allowed to play the bowl game.

If I knew Washington was anywhere near able to draft me, i’d return to school, too. It’s a death sentence playing for that team.

Upshaw would be a good pick

Don’t believe they will take a QB in first round. A sleeper who has a shady past would be OLB and great pass rusher Bruce Irving of West Virg. 6’3 245. Look for the Bills to select QB Ryan Tannehill Texas AM. Reports say he has no weaknesses just needs time to develop. Was a high school QB and then switched to WR in college, later switched back to QB. Maybe he will be there for the Bills in round 3

by Winnie33 on Dec 26, 2011 4:36 PM EST reply actions

Irvin

Is not a sleeper, and 245lbs is a stretch…falling down boards because cant play 3 downs in college

by fanick82 on Dec 26, 2011 11:02 PM EST up reply actions

Would be fine with…

Ryan Tannehill
Alshon Jeffery (not a Floyd fan because of his run-ins with the law)
Courtney Upshaw
Sam Montgomery/Nick Perry (haven’t seen either but heard they could go in the top 15)
Dre Kirkpatrick
Martin from Sanford

Da'Jon McKnight - WR (Minnesota) - 6'3'' 211Lbs. (5th Round)

Courtney Upshaw - Alabama - the answer at OLB
Vinny Curry - Marshall - the other answer at OLB.

Both can be gotten, whether Vinny Curry falls to the 2nd or we trade up in the last 1/3 of the 1st Round. Snagging one or both will help our defense immensely.

by NordicBillsfan on Dec 26, 2011 11:43 PM EST up reply actions

Should add David DeCastro to my list.

Hairston-Levitre-Wood-DeCastro-Pears would offer a very nice interior, keeping Urbik to be our primary backup C/G.

by CanadianBillsFan on Dec 27, 2011 3:05 AM EST up reply actions

Alshon Jeffery looks slow to me

and i read somewhere the other night that he’s a lazy route runner. I would much rather develop Brad Smith into a solid WR . We paid him too much not to work on him. He has a ton of potential and if Gailey were to focus on him being a WR only in the off season then I think he will produce for us next yr. if it’s not blackmon, then i don’t get a wr in the 1st.

by youngchamp on Dec 27, 2011 4:59 PM EST up reply actions

he is, barely runs under a 4.6 supposedly. they have him listed at a 4.58, but doesn’t show on tv though.

The Bills cannot count on any QB without 1st-round pedigree to become their franchise QB. If they feel they need one, then they need to make sure they get first-round talent. Enough is enough, I say. Stop messing around with developmental prospects and guys who cost less because they were taken later on.

If they get a great QB, no one will think twice about a subpar defense.

by TheAfghanTwilight on Dec 27, 2011 11:09 AM EST up reply actions

the only problem with that philosophy is...

our projected draft position. with barkley returning to usc that leaves only 2 top qb prospects. both of whom will be long gone before we pick. and that’s assuming rg3 declares. if not, then it gets much worse and it becomes slim pickin’s in the 1st rd. is landry jones worth a top 10 pick? i’m not too sure jones is a good fit for us anyway. where’s the excitement for this draft? it seems dead to me…

by youngchamp on Dec 27, 2011 5:06 PM EST up reply actions

Yep

Exactly why last yr was time to pull trigger on qb. Oh well we got Fitz!!

Picks 1 and 2 haven't been decided yet the rams can get

Pick 1 and trade it away the rams do want a tackle the colts could pick 2 and trade it away until the top 5 is settled this discussion could go any which way tje browns have 2 firsts and a bevy of early rounders this year and next

Think the Colts would still get #1 unless they win Week17.

Think if it’s two 2-14 teams it comes down to strength of schedule, right?

I wouldn't put it as being out of the question.

Lose 1 game to avoid Andrew Luck for the next 15 years? That’s not that crazy of a scenario.

That being said I think that Polian would be the first in line to trade back up with the Rams once they open it up to the highest bidder. Because let’s be honest, if the Rams (who already have Bradford) get the first overall pick, that pick is immediately being shopped to the highest bidder. And in that scenario I don’t see how the Colts wouldn’t be the ones making the best offer to simply move up one spot.

WE NEED RG3!!!!!

by CanadianBillsFan on Dec 27, 2011 3:08 AM EST up reply actions

If Luck is the only 1st-round grade at QB in your scenario, I can see it happening that way. If there are other available, I think they stay put and get a QB and try to fix that defense.

"Go check on the ribs!"

by TheAfghanTwilight on Dec 27, 2011 11:11 AM EST up reply actions

Then there`s always the chance of the Rams not trading and not selecting Luck first overall,,,

And Luck falling to Indy. But that might be the unlikeliest scenario of all.

The farthest i see them trading down is 3 maybe 4

I'm not seeing Kahil to the Rams though.

I mean 2 seasons ago they drafted Jason Smith, who was turning out to be a decent RT before he went down to injury, and last year they drafted Saffold who is actually showing that he’s a decent LT. Their tackles are set.

But they have a HUGE need at WR. I honestly see them going after Blackmon.

If RG3 does declare i'd like to see him go to the Browns.

I mean I’d like to see him as a Bill, but with Berkley not declaring and us beating the Broncos we’d have no chance at RG3 (sigh).

So the next team I’d like to see him go to is the Browns. If there’s one city that seems to be just as cursed as Buffalo (or Minny) it’s Cleveland. That city deserves a player like RG3… just as long as he doesn’t pull a Lebron.

WE NEED RG3!!!!!

by CanadianBillsFan on Dec 27, 2011 3:11 AM EST reply actions

It would be a large measuring stick to see if simply adding elite talent at QB can turn a franchise around. The Browns are so much like the Bills it’s scary.

"Go check on the ribs!"

by TheAfghanTwilight on Dec 27, 2011 11:12 AM EST up reply actions

Agreed.... partly.

I think that we are much closer at contending than the Browns. They have very little elite (or potentially elite) talent beyond Mack, Thomas and Haden. And I don`t count Hillis because he is as good as gone during the off season. He just pulled a TO on the Browns.

A QB like RG3 could do so much to revitalize that team. And I hate to say it but RG3 would probably mean more for the Browns as a team than he would for the Bills.

WE NEED RG3!!!!!

Athletic and huge beast from South Carolina? Ya, he’d be nice as well.

Da'Jon McKnight - WR (Minnesota) - 6'3'' 211Lbs. (5th Round)

1st Round Targets: Courtney Upshaw 3-4 OLB, Alshon Jeffery WR, David DeCastro OG, Justin Blackmon WR, Ryan Tannehill QB, Sam Montgomery 3-4 OLB
2nd Round Targets: Jared Crick (3-4DE & 4-3LDE), Melvin Ingram 3-4OLB, Kirk Cousins QB
