Bills vs. Chargers Practice Report: Jairus Byrd Sits
Though the Buffalo Bills got one safety back in the form of veteran George Wilson on Wednesday, the team was also down a starting safety in Jairus Byrd.
Byrd did not miss any action in Sunday's loss to Tennessee, and he was barely on the injury radar early in the week, despite acknowledgment from Chan Gailey that he was dinged. The expectation is that, as with several veteran players before him, Byrd will return to the practice field on Thursday or Friday and be prepared to play on Sunday in San Diego.
Also missing practice Wednesday were cornerback Aaron Williams and tight end Scott Chandler. As we discussed yesterday, Williams is not expected to be ready to play this weekend, but could return soon thereafter. Chandler, meanwhile, also appears to have a chance to play on Sunday after a tweaked knee slowed him down considerably in the loss to Tennessee.

Chandler really gutted it out on Sunday
He was beaten to a pulp and still kept going out on the field.
Its hard for me to blame him for that fumble. He got crushed.
Sure hope Byrdman plays. He’s really gotten a lot better.

Byrd has made huge strides
He is a very dynamic player now, I love watching him play.
Is this your homework, Larry?
Agreed
I remember hearing that he would only be a ball-hawking interception guy in the secondary after his breakout rookie season but he’s become an excellent tackler in the open field and very good in run support considering his size. I haven’t seen him miss many tackles at all.
One question.
Did Byrd make that pick?
I only ask because this defensive backfield has missed A LOT of opportunities to nab some picks over the past 5 games.
