As requested, another 7 rd mock draft

Had some time this eveing so doing a complete 7 rd draft. After 8 games given up 200 yds on the ground I am taking D early.

Star-divide

Rd 1 Robert Quinn, OLB, NC
Rd 2 Mohammed Wilkerson, 3-4 DE, Temple
Rd 3 Kelvin Sheppard, SILB, LSU
Rd 4 Andy Dalton, QB, TCU
Rd 4 Jason Pinkston, OT, Pitt
Rd 5 Wesley Saunders, TE, SC
Rd 6 Josh Thomas, CB, UB
Rd 7 Will Hill, S, FL

I am a firm believer in getting bigger along our front 7 to stop the run.  Wilkerson and Carrington would be a duo for a long time at 5 technique.  Wilkerson could also move inside and rush on passing downs and help Kyle get pressure up the middle too.  Quinn off the corner would be a great way to make D's pick between stopping him or Merriman on passing downs.  Sheppard is a bigger Jack type LB who impressed Chan in Mobile.

Dalton looks alot like Drew Brees to me and has the "it" factor, a 4 year resume as a starter showing steady improvement from year to year.  10,000 yds, 71 TDs vs 30 INTs over 4 years in a primarily running offense.  His TDs increased YOY and his INT percentage  dropped.  His % completed increased from year to year as well.  His sacks decreased Year to year and he averaged over 4 yds per rush over his career with 100 rushes per year so he is mobile.  He had a great final Bowl game vs Wisconsin and ended his career 3-1 in Bowls beating Wisconsin, Houston and splitting with Boise State.

Pinkston will likely come with some insight from Dave Wannstedt and could help right away at RT.  Saunders would be a slight risk but the reward for a Rd 5 pick could be great.  Thomas and Hill will fill needs on the back of our D.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

solid job

I would be ok with this draft. I really respect you guys with the knowledge to do a 7 rounder. I love draft time and look forward to these post especially ones like this one where you clearly put what we need ahead of who’s available.

I wouldn’t change much but i’d just switch dalton with kaepernick and wilkerson with marvin austin. But the way you have would be cool too. Love the D picks and a qb.

I would be okay with this draft. But, if we don’t go QB in the first round, I don’t see a reason to take one in later rounds. I don’t see a fourth round QB having the skills to develop into an elite QB. So if we pass on one at #3, I’d pass on a QB altogether.

If we don’t go QB at #3, I absolutely love this draft. If we can fill an OLB spot to upgrade Kelsay, an ILB to play next to Poz and another DE to eventually replace Edwards, I will be extremely happy.

I AGREE 110%

If there isn’t a franchise QB there is no point in drafting one. We have Fitz(starting) and a developmental prospect in Brown from last years draft. Why would we bring in a second developmental prospect if the guy is not viewed as a franchise QB. We can’t be drafting QB’s every year.

LIKE IT!

Addresses most pressing needs to rush the passer and stop the run, also like Dalton at this spot. Only question is TE, Wes S. ,doesn’t he have some off field issues or am I thinking of someone else?

Will Hill does

Hahaha, his stuff is funny

Not bad

Quinn is to much of a risk to draft #3overall. I don’t believe Sheppard will be there in the 3rd round.

My favorite mock so far.

i really like this mock. its different and has players i like… hahaha it gets us three high value defensive guys. a RT a TE a QB who i am very high on and the last two are kinda what ever… i do however think that from sheppard to pinkston you move up one slot. and with the last 4th rounder you select best DL. the only reason is that i think sheppard and dalton’s stock will rise. hopefully just enought so that sheppard high second and dalton high third arent considered reaches. I have heard many great things about quinn but have yet to see highlights. i would just assume everyone like myself would be weary of being out for a yr… but hey players have done and come back strong like brady and vick. but they were also seasoned vets…

Thurman Thomas literally deleted me on twitter..... i laughed then cried.... @rcallahan57

I’m not so sure about Quinn, I feel like 3 is too high for him

I for one would be excited to see Brett Farve in a Bills uniform next year

Agreed

Substitute Von Miller for Quinn and I love this draft too. I’d be liking Quinn if we could trade down to 5 or later and get an extra pick(s) too.

quinn

will probably climb after combine as 1st time anyone has seen him do anything athletic in a while

by freddyjj on Feb 25, 2011 12:11 PM EST reply actions

Yes

Someone gets the idea. Love 4 of the first five picks, don’t think dalton will be there. Great job as I hink quinn will show up at the combine and do very well.
