The 2010 draft suggested that Buddy Nix was very interested in moving back up "into" the first round to select a Player. We have discussed this player being Tim Tebow, Dan Williams or Rodger Staffold. Needless to say the move never happened and we selected Torrel Troup in the second round. The draft continued without any other moves for the Bills. We selected players at our normal slotted draft spots. We all know that these things happen alot and with some teams very often. Basically, Nix struck out here or didn't feel he wanted to pay the price to move up for the player he wanted. Still it leaves me very curious whom he was after.
Since then, we repeated a very poor season in the W-L column with very similar problems. Our run defense was very poor, our offensive tackle still remains a mystery and we started out 2010 with Trent Edwards at QB. This suggests to me that Nix was after a QB, NT, or RT by attempting to move up. We did draft a NT, we did not draft a QB earlier than the seventh round and we spent allot of money signing a RT that is no longer on the team. The input I am looking for is Who was it that Nix was after, what position was he attempting to fill? For the Bills or any team to move up, like McDaniels and the Broncos, it must of been a player that they really liked. I am using this failed attempt as motive for them to come better prepared in this draft to get what they are after. If Nix sees someone this year and attempts to move up to get that player, he may just go all in to get it done. The last thing he needs and we need is another failed attempt to improve our front seven, OL or even a QB of the future. Your thoughts please.
