The Buffalo Bills Alumni Association will be holding a memorial for the late Cookie Gilchrist next month in Buffalo.
The memorial is set for Saturday, April 16 at St. John Baptist Church, located at 184 Goodell Street in Buffalo. The service is expected to last from 11AM to 1 PM, and is open to the public. Buffalo Bills alumni will be speaking and sharing their favorite stories, though details about the level of fan participation have not been released.
Cookie's family, including his two sons Scott and Jeffrey, will be among those celebrating. They, along with a long-time friend of Cookie's, Chris Garbarino, have launched CookieGilchrist.com in tribute to the great running back. It currently features video remembrances of Gilchrist from the time of his death.
Gilchrist passed away after a long bout with cancer on January 10. He had a special place in his heart for the city of Buffalo, and now the city can cheer for their star running back one final time.
