Earlier today, we mentioned that pro days are beginning in anticipation of April's 2011 NFL Draft. Tony Pauline is reporting that the Buffalo Bills are already hard at work on the pro day circuit, as they were one of a dozen NFL teams with representation at the Florida Atlantic pro day.
FAU's hottest prospect is probably tight end Rob Housler, a 6'5", 248-pound receiving tight end that ran the fastest official 40-yard dash of all tight ends at the 2011 NFL Combine (4.55 seconds). In four years at FAU (he also had a fifth year redshirted in 2009), Housler caught 78 passes for 1,228 yards and eight touchdowns. Housler has put on significant weight in order to boost his draft stock, as he played in college at a svelte 215 pounds.
Wide receiver Lester Jean (64 catches, 988 yards, 8 TD as a senior), cornerback Tavious Polo (51 tackles, 2 INT) and linebacker Michael Lockley (110 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles) were among the notable FAU prospects that worked out for scouts on Thursday, as well.
Buffalo was joined at the pro day workout by scouts from Green Bay, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Miami, New Orleans, the Giants, Oakland, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Tampa Bay and Tennessee.
