That’s fine.

ok, good that we...

…kicked the tires with Sanders, would have preferred that he sign in the NFC but whatever.

Maybe he got a look at the SS class in this draft?

That would put a smile on his face.

Drag dude….I was really looking forward to another year of our best players landing on IR.

But I guess that’s still a likely possibility.

THAT is why i'm serious.

Atogwe

I heard his deal was something like 5 years and $25million. That HAS to lower Donte’s expectations for his contract. I can’t see him commanding more money on the open market that Atogwe.

i hope so

Good point dude

but Donte is also Tendered, so if they do a long term extension of the existing CBA….we still have x amount of time to sign him and nobody else gets a shot. So strike while the market is low…

by NHBillzFan on Mar 3, 2011 9:29 PM EST up reply actions

and there we go

Ive been trying to get people to stop wanting to just throw Donte out. Obviously at his asking price we wont sign. But lets just let both sides do what they have to do and hope it all comes back down to Earth and both sides get a fair deal. This is part of the process, the market being established.

Of course Donte’s agent demanded that much. His client just had the fourth highest tackles in the league and truthfully had his best season to date which opens questions of whether hes taking the next step and he is young. He was doing right by Donte and Donte was doing right by Donte. If he keeps being unreasonable let him go. But hopefully more indications lead to us coming to a good, fair deal for the type of player he is and what he means to this team. Lets not forget that as young as he is he is already an established veteran who has incredible amounts of game experience for his age.

5 mil a year is very ok for Donte. It’d be great if we could sign him and not have to worry about another hole in the defense and keep a guy around who doesnt have to relearn the playbook and the guys around him.

Donte is a good player. I’d like to see him stay if we can get him for an Atogwe deal. Plenty of time left to negotiate.

i’m sure i’m going to regret this conversation… but what the hell - J2

Agree on all fronts

And have been saying this to my friends all along. Donte was coming off his best year so of course he wanted to see how much he could get. Now that the market is established a 5 yr 25 mil contract would be great….as long as Donte is willing to accept that and the Bills are willing to give him that. If no and he wants some outrageous price let him walk. But why create another hole and also as much as people hate to admit it…he is solid. Not great but solid.

Agreed Poz. And I think with a little more time in the new system, he could do alright. We shall see.

Eric Weddle?

If the Chargers signed Sanders wouldn’t that suggest Weddle is available? He might be the best option of them all and has Nix roots. I’m just sayin.

Weddle

is their FS I believe although he is much better suited for a SS job. Their starting SS was Steve Gregory if I’m not mistaken.

it seems like now we need to send a perpetually injured player to Indianpolis to make things complete.

When we don't sign players

like Sanders, I’m always left wondering if it was our non interest or the players. I kills me not knowing.

Winning and opportunity to start

SD certainly offered that, while the Bills could only offer the latter.

I wouldn't mind bringing Pollard in on the cheap

And letting him compete for the SS job. Also I’ve heard rumors that Quinton Mikell might be cut by the Eagles. He’d be another Safety i’d be willing to kick the tires on.

The player I would like least at #9 would be my sister’s cat, Captain Creamsicle. She does have a great work ethic and agility, but I’m really concerned that at 9 lbs., she’s too small to play safety in the NFL. She also bites way too often on play action and is easily distracted by someone waving string in the crowd. Lastly, her wonderlic score was pretty awful, answering "meow meow meow" for most of the questions- Dr. Brackish Okun

Mikell is an intriguing idea

He’s another solid SS, not great but solid.

I believe Mikell is already supposed to be a FA
