Does O.J. Atogwe Deal Mean Donte Whitner Will Be a Bill?

Stay connected for news and updates

O.J. Atogwe's deal with the Washington Redskins was five years and $26 million. That's roughly $5 million per year for a safety that has far outproduced Buffalo Bills free agent Donte Whitner. GM Buddy Nix has already said that Whitner being a Bill next year is "up to Donte". That seems to insinuate that Whitner is asking for more money than the Bills think is fair.

It would seem to me that this would set the top end of the spectrum for a Whitner contract. I can't believe he'd expect to command more than Atogwe. If Whitner could be had for slightly less than $5 million per year, maybe a deal can get done. I am not a huge Whitner fan, but I am not one that thinks we are better off without him, either. It makes sense to bring him back on a fair deal.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.
