So what's the deal with Jake Locker?

As the draft approaches and everybody continues to make their mocks, opinions, and guesses on who the Bills pick there is something that isn't really adding up for me. There's a group here that believes Jake Locker is the best pick for the Bills because he is a strong armed mobile QB with good leadership values as well. Picking at 3 would be much too high for Locker but he may possibly fall to pick 34 or we could always trade back from 3 and take him, or trade back into the first round and take him if he is still on the board.

Personally I like Locker a lot and would love for the Bills to take Patrick Peterson at 3 and then either land Locker at 34 or trade back into the 1st round and get him. As me and my friend keep debating over who the Bills should pick and when/if the Bills should take a QB this year he continues to point out that he does not think the Bills are interested in Locker at all. For a while I could not agree with that because last year Locker was considered to be the #1 pick in the draft, and even though he faltered this year, I still think there is something special there. However now I'm not so sure he's even on the Bills radar at all, and here's why:

We have brought in Cam Newton, have plans to bring in Blaine Gabbert, Christian Ponder and I believe Colin Kaepernick ( or at least I know we did interview him). However, nothing has been said about bringing in Jake Locker for an interview or a private workout which is a pretty big statement to me at least whether you consider drafting a guy or not.

During Jake Locker's pro day perhaps some Bills scouts were there (maybe), but neither Chan Gailey or Buddy Nix were in attendence. Instead the Bills brought in Marcell Dareus for that day. Also another big statement in my eyes that they would not even consider watching him at his pro day, and would rather bring in another player on that day.

Finally, I have not heard much from the Bills on Locker at all. I know there was a report from Adam Schefter that the Bills are very high on Jake Locker, but I haven't even heard Nix or Gailey say what they usually say "He's a great guy and will be a special player for some NFL team" (paraphrasing of course). So if the Bills really are interested in Locker they are certainly going about it in a peculiar way, not attending pro days, not having private workouts, and not even talking about the guy.

I believe that it is one of two things. Now I don't remember the Bills ever bringing in CJ Spiller for a private workout so perhaps the Bills are doing the same thing here. Now if I'm wrong and the Bills did bring in CJ, then all that does is prove to me more that the Bills don't want Locker, but perhaps the Bills are staying mum because they really are interested and don't want to create any hype or let anyone know that is the guy they really want. Maybe they have seen everything they needed to on Locker and that is why they are bothering looking at other guys, to create smokescreens and not let anyone know they are interested in Locker. The other option of course is they don't like Locker or see him as a franchise QB and aren't going to waste their time scouting him anymore.

So what do you think fellow rumblers? Is Locker still on the Bills radar or is it safe to say at this point he's off of it?

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.
