A Realistic Tight End solution (cough* not shawn nelson)
Hey fellow rumblers. I was just looking around profootballfocus.com at some of their free agent position articles (they have a write up for each position) and I happened upon the tight end installment. Their top 4 includes Zach Miller (Oakland), Owen Daniels (Houston), Kevin Boss (NY), and our old favorite whipping boy Robert Royal. They included robert royal because he was apparently great in run support last year. Anyways, I was wondering how realistic you guys think it would be if we could sign a guy like Kevin Boss. I know Buffalo is never the top choice for the Tier 1 free agents but Kevin Boss is a proven pass catcher and he also is a big body which we need for run blocking. We could probably sign the guy for a less than ludicrous contract and he would instantly knock off a need for this years upcoming draft. Tell me what you guys think.
Also, on another note. Jared Gaither from baltimore is set to become a free agent. After how heavily we pursued him over the summer, I can't help but wonder if Buddy backed off because he liked what he saw in Bell and knew Gaither was a free agent to be next season. Grab Gaither, put bell at RT and solve O-Line problems? Of course I don't know I'm not a talent evaluator or any kind of reliable source but I would like to know what you guys think about the chances and how effective such a pick up would be. Go bills. Draft Marcell Dareus. Goodbye
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Boss and Daniels are my two favorites with Miller right behind. Boss is a solid blocker, Daniels and Miller are try hard types, but are much better pass catchers
The issue we need to resolve is does Gailey want catch first or block first TEs? And right now I think he is leaning block first, and this years FA crop isn’t particularly strong there.

go get em
I would love to see both daniels and gaither in a bills uniform. daniels has been really good in houston as well as gaither in baltimore. this would solidilfy our offense for the upcoming season and we could focus our entire draft on the defensive side of the ball. If peterson isnt there at 3 then we take von miller. those moves could potentially put this team back in the playoffs sooner then we think. go bills nice post
Didn't Daniels resign with Houston?
Miller I think is out of the question. Boss is intriguing but I don’t know how he really fits he’s a big guy but not particularly fast or great at blocking. He’s got average speed for a TE and average blocking ability. He is good at catching however so it would have to depend on what Chan wants and if he fits his TE mold.

Boss
Could help the Bills, can block well, can catch well, and is definately worth having a visit with the Bills. If we could get a 3 year contract at say …. 6.5 Mill with a 500,000 signing bonus …. I’m all in for that.
No to Gaither
Gaither is a very difficult player to handle who seems very injury-prone. He also waits a huge contract. I can’t imagine the Bills having any interest in him. Kevin Boss would make a good FA signing, but I believe it is unlikely he will ever hit the open market.
gaither, bell and boss....
I think chix wants to, “build” his own TE and RT and not commit big monies to these positions…and Gaither sounds like trouble and as winnie33 said, bell is built to play LT.
I do think Boss is the kind of TE chix wants, nobody said he already signed yet, maybe him if the dollars are right as gred79 said…..we would steal from an opponent as well, that’s always a plus.
gobills!
