AJ Hawk: 5 yrs, $33.75 mil
I thought 5 years, $30 mil was a good starting point to make a deal with Poz. This should help establish the market.

Yup. Believe me, Poz and his agent saw this deal.
Its really not bad in comparison to what Kelsay got.
If we could resign Poz for this I would be happy.

I don't know
Hawk is the more durable player and outside of tackle numbers for this past year, has been a bit more productive. He also had a much bigger contract to start with, which I believe is part of the reason he got another big deal. Right or wrong, if the Packers wanted Hawk back, they couldn’t lowball him or offer him a deal less than what he got as a rookie.
I’m actually pretty surprised at this signing. The Packers are paying a lot of money to their ILB’s. Desmond Bishop, Brandon Chillar and Nick Barnett have all signed lucrative extensions with the team. I guess they could dump Barnett and his $5M+ salary, or else that’s a ton of money tied up in a position where having 4 very good players might be overkill….
