JJ....

Watt?

The purpose of this post is not to convince anyone that JJ Watt can play, his film and stats do that. The purpose of this post is to get people to realize that the maybe the skies are the limit for JJ Watt. I wanted to see how watt's combine numbers matched-up with the other D-linemen in this year's draft and I found it....when you combine his thru the ceiling intangibles and his body of work, with his combine numbers you have ask yourself, "why isn't he worthy of  the 3rd pick overall?" (assuming we won't and/or can't trade down).

Let's look at the numbers.....

http://www.steelersdepot.com/2011-nfl-combine-results-defensive-linemen/

Watt is the 2nd tallest defensive lineman. He is the 3rd heaviest defensive end (behind dareus and heyward). Arm lengths run from 31" to 35 3/8", Watt has respectable 34" arm. Watt is tied with cameron jordan for biggest hands in the draft at 11 1/8". This is important, his hands are very powerful; good for striping, tackling, getting the ball etc. His 40 time was 3rd lowest for DL over 270 lbs. He was tied for 3rd on 225lb bench press reps at 34. Just a ridiculous number for a lanky end. Watt had the 2nd highest verticle jump at 37" The only guy who beat him was donte moch who measures 6'1" and 248lbs. Again, this number is important and ridiculously awesome. It is important as it is said to measure explosion, along with the broad jump, 20 yd shuttle and 3-cone drill. His broad jump was ten feet and good for 3rd. Patrick kerrigan beat him by 0.2" and the little guy beat him again. He easily came in second in the 20 yd. shuttle at 4.21 seconds. Easily! And finally, he was one of three players to break the 7 sec. barrier in the 3 cone drill. The guy is as freakish athletically as anyone in the draft; anyone. The guy didn't play DE until 2009, I think when you put everything together, it means he could get waaaaay better at playing DE.

Watt is a brutely strong, tough, smart, athletic football player's football player. Why not at three?

He is exactly Watt were looking for.

He looks like some frigin' moose out there, on the field. In fact, that should be his nick-name: JJ MOOSE!

Watt?

gosabres!
