With the 3rd pick of the 2011 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select...
Round 1: Patrick Peterson, CB
Explanation: Peterson would immediately start in the nickel, and since this is a pass-happy league, it makes sense based on BPA. Newton and Dareus are off the board, so here the next best prospect. Many are jumping on the Miller bandwagon, which I understand why...but we have loads of money in OLB's already. Nix got his "Light's Out" back from San Diego days. Not thinking D-Line after drafting that in Troup and Carrington. Gabbert is a possibility, but I'm not sold and I don't think Gailey and Nix are either. And please, pretty please, pretty please with a cherry on top, no WR.
Round 2: Gabe Carimi, OT
Explanation: Sure, some of your comments will say he won't last this long. So mock me! This is my mock draft. Also, others will argue for ILB. While I agree, be patient, I'm getting there. We need to win in the trenches, and we need big bodies to block for The Thrilla in Spilla and Freddy.
Round 3: Quan Sturdivant, ILB
Explanation: We all know we need help inside. So I just picked a guy that visited the OBD recently. That's all I gotta say about that.
I think I will stop there. This leaves the possibility of a mid-round QB, which I don't like either. Stanzi, Dalton, McElrory I think would all serve well as Fitzpatrick backup, but I struggle to see them beating him for any starting spot soon. So I'm rolling with Fitz, and drafting possible immediate starters.
What do you think? First time mocker, long time mocker fan. Would this work? Where do Bills go in rounds 4 and later? Love to hear your thoughts.
