Sorry Brian, but I gave you an A. (Now for me to rip you to shreds, [sarcasm mode]) I don’t know if this argument will be ripped to shreds but I feel the flaw in this argument is a flaw the flaw has itself.
Peterson is an A because to me he is fits both BPA and need. CB might be our biggest need on the team right now with no possible options. I say this because our front 7 can only get better. With the addition of merriman and if carrington and troup can progress during the off-season (something which players never do [sarcasm mode]) our front seven will be in much better shape than our current DB situation.
The critique is that we have no clue what the ceiling on the 2011 (possible) season is for troup carrington or merriman. But we do know where the ceiling is on our CBs with the exception of Wilson and Florence. If the coaches love what they have seen out of these three, I really don’t see us even examining the front 7 because one of the following: Gabbert Newton and Peterson will be available three. So this argument, that CB is our greatest need, sucks if you think that these three front 7 won’t improve the run defense at all next season. We have no-one at CB with ability to improve the pass defense and the possibility that troup carrington and merrimin will improve the run defense is almost definite. That is why cornerback is our greatest need, not DL or Von Miller. This argument can be applied directly to the reason that QB or TE is the position of greatest need in the second round. We have no one to improve these positions, the draft is all about improving the team, and there is no need to improve in the draft at the front 7 positions when you already have three front 7 players who will be improve the team in comparison to last year. Rudolph and Locker in this mock are both perfect picks for the Bills, they fit both BPA and the bills need at 34.
This is why I gave Brian an A. Its my first fan post and I would appreciate any feedback, even if you are calling me an idiot.
